Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor dazzled at Elland Road, driving Daniel Farke’s side closer to Premier League safety with a dominant performance that left relegated Burnley searching for answers.

Leeds United moved to the brink of Premier League safety with a convincing 3-1 victory over Burnley at Elland Road, as Daniel Farke’s side climbed to 43 points with three games remaining.

Coming off the disappointment of their FA Cup semi-final defeat, Leeds responded in exactly the manner required—controlled, clinical, and ultimately too strong for a Burnley side already relegated and under interim boss Michael Jackson.

The hosts set the tone early, dominating possession and territory from the opening whistle. Their pressure told inside eight minutes when Anton Stach opened the scoring in spectacular fashion, driving a long-range effort beyond Martin Dúbravka to give Leeds the perfect start.

It was a goal that reflected Leeds’ intent-positive, aggressive, and full of confidence, and one that allowed them to dictate the tempo for much of the first half.

Burnley offered little in response. Lacking urgency and cohesion following the departure of Scott Parker, they struggled to deal with Leeds’ intensity and movement, rarely threatening Karl Darlow’s goal.

Leeds, meanwhile, continued to probe. Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin combined well throughout the first half, with the latter’s physical presence causing constant problems for Burnley’s back line, even if the second goal didn’t arrive before the break.

The game was effectively settled in a devastating spell early in the second half.

First, Okafor doubled Leeds’ advantage in the 52nd minute, finishing off a slick move that saw Calvert-Lewin’s clever involvement and Jayden Bogle’s delivery create the opening.

Just four minutes later, Calvert-Lewin got his reward. After a shot was parried by Dúbravka, the striker reacted quickest to convert the rebound and make it 3-0, sending Elland Road into celebration.

At that point, the contest was as good as over. Leeds were in complete control, both in possession and without the ball, showcasing the gulf in quality between the two sides on the night.

Burnley did manage a consolation goal in the 71st minute through Loum Tchaouna, who fired home after a brief spell of pressure, but it did little to change the overall narrative of the game.

There had been a brief moment of hope earlier when Burnley thought they had scored, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside following a VAR check, summing up a frustrating evening for the visitors.

For Leeds, however, this was all about control and composure. Their summer signings - Stach, Okafor, and Calvert-Lewin - once again proved decisive, underlining the impact recruitment has had on Farke’s side this season.

The victory moves Leeds to 43 points and nine clear of the relegation zone, leaving them on the verge of securing their Premier League status for another season.

More importantly, it continues their strong run of form in the league, with Farke’s side now building momentum at the crucial stage of the campaign.

After months of uncertainty, Leeds are now looking up rather than down, and if this performance is anything to go by, survival is no longer a question of if, but when.
