Tarik Muharemović has been named Leeds United’s Hero of the Month for September after another impressive spell, with the defender claiming 74 per cent of the supporters’ vote to win the award for the second time this season.

Tarik Muharemović has been rewarded for another impressive month in a Leeds United shirt after being named the club’s Hero of the Month for September, securing the award for the second time this season.

Presented by club partner Employment Hero, the monthly accolade is voted for by supporters, with Muharemović once again emerging as the clear favourite after an influential run of performances across the Premier League and League Cup.

The defender previously claimed the award in August and has continued to demonstrate his importance to Daniel Farke’s side, featuring in all four of Leeds’ fixtures throughout September and completing 360 minutes of action.

Muharemović’s consistency at the back, combined with his contributions going forward, proved decisive in a month that included an emphatic Premier League victory over Newcastle United and a hard-fought clean sheet against Crystal Palace.

September began with Leeds playing out a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion, before attention turned to the League Cup and a trip to Chelsea.

Although the Whites suffered a disappointing 6-3 defeat at Stamford Bridge, Muharemović found the net to register his first goal of the campaign, offering a positive moment in an otherwise difficult evening for the visitors.

The Bosnian defender then played his part in Leeds’ impressive 4-1 Premier League victory over Newcastle United, providing an assist as Farke’s side secured three important points.

His ability to contribute in the opposition's penalty area further underlined the all-round qualities he has brought to the team.

Leeds rounded off the month with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace at Elland Road, where Muharemović helped the Whites keep a clean sheet.

While the result offered limited goalmouth excitement, the defensive performance provided another example of his reliability at the heart of the backline.

His statistics across the four September fixtures reflect the breadth of his contribution.

Muharemović recorded 36 defensive contributions, including eight interceptions, 24 clearances and 19 recoveries, demonstrating his ability to read opposition attacks and deal with danger.

He also won 22 duels, while contributing three key passes at the other end of the pitch. His involvement in possession was equally notable, completing 213 accurate passes, registering 306 touches and making 84 carries as Leeds looked to build attacks from the back.

Those figures highlight a defender who has become increasingly influential in both phases of play, offering Leeds defensive solidity while helping the side progress the ball into more advanced areas.

The supporters' vote reflected the strength of Muharemović’s performances, with the defender securing 74 per cent of the overall vote to comfortably claim September’s award.

Ethan Ampadu finished second with eight per cent, while goalkeeper James Trafford and full-back Jayden Bogle each received four per cent.

Winning the accolade in consecutive months represents a significant recognition of Muharemović’s start to the campaign.

Having already earned the backing of Leeds supporters in August, he has demonstrated how quickly he has established himself as a popular figure among the Elland Road faithful.

With consistent performances across domestic competitions and contributions at both ends of the pitch, the defender has given Leeds further reason to be encouraged by his development as the season progresses.
