Tarik Muharemović was pleased to help Leeds United preserve another clean sheet against Crystal Palace but admitted the Whites know they can improve after an unbeaten opening five Premier League matches.

Tarik Muharemović played an important role in Leeds United’s latest clean sheet as the Whites were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace at Elland Road.

The centre-back was called upon to make several important interventions throughout Sunday’s contest, including a well-timed challenge to prevent Jørgen Strand Larsen from getting through on goal during the first half.

Neither side could find the breakthrough, meaning Daniel Farke’s side head into the first international break of the 2026/27 season unbeaten, having collected nine points from their opening five Premier League matches.

For Muharemović, the clean sheet and another point were positives, although the Bosnia and Herzegovina international acknowledged Leeds were capable of producing more.

“Obviously, we are happy with the point, with the clean sheet,” the 23-year-old told LUTV after the final whistle.

“At the end, we are still unbeaten in the Premier League.

“We can go happy to the international break but still we know we can do much, much better. I think it was obviously not one of the best games we played but we all know also this can happen in football.

“We will keep going and show even more of our qualities.”

The draw extended Leeds’ unbeaten start but represented the first time this season that they had failed to find the back of the net in the Premier League.

Muharemović admitted that, like any footballer, he would rather be celebrating three points, but accepted that there will inevitably be games where a team has to settle for less.

“Look, obviously, I wish I could win every game,” he said. “So, I wish I could take every week three points.

“I know that is football. We have to take it. For a football player, it is always better to have all three points. Today it is how it is.”

The international break will now provide Muharemović with the opportunity to represent his country, with the defender heading away with Bosnia and Herzegovina before returning to Leeds for the next phase of the campaign.

Having joined the Whites during the summer, Muharemović has quickly established himself as an important part of Farke’s defence and took the opportunity to reflect on his first few months at Elland Road.

“Since the first day I arrived, the team, and especially the staff and all the people in the background, they really welcomed me I think in the best way,” he said.

“I really feel good here.

“I love to be here, especially in such a stadium with such fans. I love to train every day so I just want to work harder and to ensure what I can do together with my teammates to win as many games as possible.”

The defender has already developed a strong connection with the Elland Road crowd, with his aggressive style of defending and willingness to throw himself into challenges quickly making him a popular figure among the supporters.

Muharemović admitted that there is a particular satisfaction in making those defensive interventions in front of the Leeds faithful.

“When I do a slide tackle, it is really nice,” he said. “All the emotions come out.

“I love to do it with the fans and especially with such fans we have, it is even better.”

While the international break brings a temporary pause to Leeds’ Premier League campaign, Muharemović made clear that he is already looking forward to returning to club football.

“It is maybe also good to have a bit break off the Premier League but if I am honest, I really enjoy to play here,” he added.

“Since I arrived, every game, it is unbelievable the atmospheres at home especially but also in the away games.”

With Leeds unbeaten after five matches and Muharemović continuing to settle into life at Elland Road, the defender will now turn his attention to international duty before returning to West Yorkshire for the next chapter of the campaign.
