Liverpool sign Osasuna Winger Victor Muñoz by swooping in late and Hijacking Newcastle's advanced negotiations.

Newcastle have been in active negotiations with Osasuna over a deal for 22-year-old Spanish winger Victor Muñoz. According to some reports, they were looking to get him for around £34.5m, including add-ons, while Osasuna's transfer chief, Braulio Vázquez, has been hinting that only the full £34.5m release clause being triggered would be considered.

Enter Liverpool Football Club, who suddenly triggered the full release clause to secure the signing of Victor Muñoz.

It has been reported by Ben Jacobs that Muñoz will sign a six-year deal at Liverpool.

Víctor Muñoz is an attacker at Osasuna who has appeared in the majority of their LaLiga matches in 2025/2026, making 34 appearances and accumulating 2,668 minutes of playing time. He has been selected in the starting lineup in 31 of these appearances across their 38 fixtures and entered as a substitute in three instances.

Muñoz last appeared in the competition on May 17, in Osasuna's match against Espanyol. In that game, he scored a goal in their 2-1 loss. In total, he has scored six LaLiga goals this term, making him the club's third-top league scorer, and chipped in with two assists. He opened his account for the LaLiga campaign against Elche on September 25, scoring during a 1-1 draw.

Last season, Muñoz played a combined 36 Primera División RFEF and LaLiga games between Real Madrid II (34) and Real Madrid (2) and scored 11 goals. Before moving to Osasuna in July 2025, Muñoz made 63 league appearances for Real Madrid II, scoring 13 goals.

It was on May 11, 2025, that Muñoz made his league debut during his spell at Real Madrid, at the age of 21 years and 302 days, versus Barcelona. He first played in a LaLiga match for his current club, Osasuna, against Real Madrid on August 19, 2025. Overall, in his LaLiga career, he has played 36 matches in the competition, with six goals scored and two assists.

Author's Verdict:

While Munoz is relatively unknown to a majority of Liverpool fans, he is a bright and exciting talent, known for his pace and 1v1 ability. He can play on both wings but also behind the striker if needed.

He tracks back well, and he is similar to Anthony Gordon in some ways. Versatility is key for Liverpool, as their issues with squad depth were consistent throughout last season, with recurring injuries to Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike with an achilles injury, Arne Slot over-relying on Cody Gakpo, and not giving enough chances to Federico Chiesa or Rio Ngumoha, etc.

But this new signing should hopefully be a step in the right direction. Pending official confirmation, Victor Muñoz will be the first Liverpool signing under Andoni Iraola.
