After missing out on signing Florian Wirtz in 2025, a Bayern Munich board member hasn't ruled out the German giants making a move for the playmaker in the future amid uncertainty at Liverpool.
Liverpool's Florian Wirtz has been subject to a high quantity of criticism by ex-players, fans and social media influencers due to his seemingly poor performances since signing for the club.
While some may argue that Wirtz hasn't performed nearly as badly as people have been making out, and instead the German playmaker is being used as a 'scapegoat' when the Merseyside club play poorly, his output for goals and assists hasn't hit the heights seen when he was a breakout star in the Bundesliga.

Arriving at Anfield for a reported £116 million package deal, with £100 million up front, was seen as a huge buy for Liverpool, but the price was seen as justifiable for the player that the Reds were getting.
In the season before he arrived in England, Wirtz had come off the back of playing a huge role for Bayer Leverkusen as he notched up 16 goals and 14 assists across all competitions for the German outfit, including six goals coming in the Champions League.

Across Europe, top clubs saw a rising star in Florian Wirtz, and many tried to persuade him to join their club, but in the end, it became a two-horse race between Liverpool and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Bayern Board Member Responds To Questions Over Possible Wirtz Move In The Future
In the end, it would be LFC that would emerge victorious in the race for Wirtz in the summer of 2025, with the prospect of playing in the Premier League being a deciding factor.

However, given Wirtz's struggles on Merseyside, there has been speculation over whether a return to German football could be on the agenda in the near future, with Bayern Munich supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge highlighting the current talent at the Bundesliga reigning champions' disposal:
"First of all, that’s not my job. It’s a matter for the board. And we mustn’t forget that Jamal Musiala and Serge Gnabry play in that position, and there are other options as well, such as Ismael Saibari. There’s no need to spend the kind of money that Wirtz would probably cost to sign a fourth player for that position. That’s why I say: Before making any move, a player needs to think very carefully about it."
But Rummenigge didn't completely rule out a move for Liverpool's struggling big money star:
"Whether something might still be possible at some point? I don’t know. The question is whether Wirtz is happy at Liverpool. I can’t judge that. Uli and I were in contact with his father and mother for a while. Then they decided to take a different path, and we respected that."
