Any departure of Curtis Jones feels wrong. A player who has loudly and proudly represented the liverbird on his chest being shown the back door seems slightly odd.
He provides stability in the midfield in matches where chaos seems to break out. His press-resistant nature and ability to hold onto the ball keep Liverpool in control.
Naturally, there are huge question marks over the player’s development. He is a ‘good’ player, but does he have the capabilities to make the next step?
At 25 years old, it’s not unfair for some fans to have wanted to see more from the boyhood red. Is he truly at the same level as Liverpool’s other key midfielders?
Dominik Szoboszlai was Liverpool’s POTY in the 25/26 season, Alexis Mac Allister comfortably hit a world-class level during his first 2 years at the club, and Ryan Gravenberch won the Premier League Young Player of the Season award during the 24/25 title-winning campaign.
