Alex Scott Transfer Battle

Multiple clubs, including Liverpool, are reportedly interested in signing Bournemouth's Alex Scott, perhaps as soon as the upcoming January transfer window. The English midfielder's contract is set to expire in 18 months.

In a big boost for interested clubs, Sky Sports has now confirmed exactly what it would take to convince Bournemouth to let go of their talented young midfielder.

Bournemouth Set Scott Price Tag

According to Sky Sports, Bournemouth would be willing to sanction Alex Scott's departure as soon as January for a fee in excess of 80 million pounds (plus add-ons). Previous reports had suggested that the fee required would be closer to 100 million pounds.

Apparently, such an offer would force Bournemouth to consider a sale, with Scott continuing to refuse the club's contract extension offers.

If Bournemouth are safe from relegation in January, Sky Sports says, then they could be genuinely open to offers despite not wanting to sell the player.

In the meantime, Scott remains sidelined on the treatment table after sustaining an injury on international duty with England.

Marco Rose, speaking ahead of Bournemouth's Europa League clash against Sturm Graz, said about Scott:

"We just closed the other transfer window, and we're now talking about the next one"

"He (Alex Scott) is a player of our club, and now he's injured, we are looking forward to having him back in a couple of days and weeks and we'll continue with Alex Scott. And he's quite committed; everyone can see it from the first games [of the season]."

January Transfer Battle

Whilst Liverpool are said to retain a serious interest in Scott, they are not the only club eyeing the midfielder.

Chelsea are also said to be seriously considering signing the Bournemouth star, whilst Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham were all interested before they strengthened their midfields with other players in the summer.

The big question is, would Alex Scott be a good fit for Liverpool?

Author's Verdict: Alex Scott an Ideal Addition?

Many Liverpool fans have spoken about the Reds' need for an extra midfielder, particularly one with a defensive mindset. Now, whilst Alex Scott may not represent exactly that - being much more of a box-to-box type player - he could still be the ideal replacement for Alexis Mac Allister.

The Argentine's Liverpool future is itself unresolved, with his own contract situation still up in the air after he first spoke out before the Reds' victory over Atletico Madrid earlier in the season.

Furthermore, whilst not a defence-first player, Scott does rank 1st in the Premier League for possessions won in the attacking third. Unsurprising, given his tutelage under Andoni Iraola himself.

The Iraola aspect could play a huge role in this transfer, both in the player's proven fit for his style of play and in securing his signature ahead of interested rivals.
