Anfield officials have slammed the door on a potential Serie A switch, retaining the Brazilian shot-stopper despite Italian interest and sparking major questions regarding Giorgi Mamardashvili’s immediate future.
Alisson Becker’s move to Juventus is being blocked by Liverpool, reports Fabrizio Romano via Instagram.
The Brazilian international had reportedly been tempted by Juventus’ offer to sign him, but he left the decision up to the club.
The club’s final decision is that Alisson stays.
The Decision
There have always been question marks about Alisson’s availability since he joined the club, but the stats and performances speak for themselves.
In his most recent match against Crystal Palace, he pulled off an incredible 1-on-1 save, very reminiscent of one he made in 2018 against Napoli, which proved vital as the club lifted their 6th UEFA Champions League that season.
How long is left for Alisson at LFC?
Alisson Becker’s Liverpool career won’t last much longer, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Brazilian goalkeeper is currently 33 years old, which is when players tend to decline, but not necessarily all the time with goalkeepers.
We have seen with Manuel Neuer (Bayern Munich), Iker Casillas (Porto), and Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus) that playing beyond 33 years of age and still performing at the top level isn’t as uncommon as it is for outfield players.
With that being said, Alisson has also made it clear in interviews that one day he would like to return to his childhood team, Sporting Club Internacional, to see out his retirement.
"I talk to athletes who have made this move to return, some have had good experiences, others not. Each one will have their own experience, but I want to return, especially to Inter. I don't know when it will happen, but I still want to do it at a high level. That's what I have planned."
Some players simply lose a taste for it all, having experienced the moments he has in England. Winning the Premier League and League Cup twice, the Champions League, FA Cup - in which he vitally saved Mason Mount’s penalty from the shootout - and the Club World Cup.

It’s also a decision that may have an impact on Giorgi Mamardashvili’s career, as reports have suggested he may seek a loan move for more game time.
