Liverpool v Brighton: Where to Watch, Match Preview, Kick Off Time & More

Liverpool return to league action this weekend as they take on Brighton at Anfield in what is likely to be a high-scoring game.

The Reds are fresh off the back of a seven-goal thriller against Villarreal in the Champions League, while Brighton have just beaten rivals Crystal Palace 5-0 in the Premier League and drawn away in the Europa Conference League.

The two sides met just under two weeks before Christmas last season, with the Reds coming out on top in that encounter.

Hugo Ekitike, who was in re- hot form at the time, scored twice, with a returning Mohamed Salah getting an assist for Ekitike's second goal.

The main storyline around this game was the return to the squad for Mo Salah, who, following a public falling out with the manager at the time, Arne Slot.

But talks reportedly took place between the pair, and after missing a Champions League game midweek, he returned to the matchday squad, on the bench, against Brighton.

Coming off the bench, he got an assist and helped LFC on their way to three huge points against a Brighton side that arguably deserved a lot more from the game than what they got.

Andoni Iraola's side comes into this game full of confidence going forward, but question marks surrounding their defensive credibility.

Scoring four goals against a strong La Liga side in Villarreal is a very good sign, with several players looking like they are getting better and better, more accustomed to the system and becoming a stronger unit as each game goes by.

However, concerns remain about the defence, not necessarily regarding individuals, but more about how the back four are asked to press high and jump out of position, marking man-to-man.

This is very effective when completed successfully, but should a team bypass this high press, then there have been far too many occasions where opposition teams have space in behind and a clear run on goal, something that Villarreal exploited multiple times.

While the Spanish outfit failed to convert many of their chances, a team like Brighton certainly will, given their goalscoring prowess this campaign.

The game will kick-off at 2 pm (GMT) on Sunday, 25th October 2026.
