The lineups for Liverpool v Chelsea have been officially confirmed ahead of this evening's 20:00 GMT Carabao Cup fourth-round clash.

Fourth-Round Clash Presents Opportunity for Silverware

Liverpool face Chelsea at Anfield this evening in a clash that could define both clubs' seasons. After yesterday's shock result in Lancashire, where Fleetwood Town defeated Arsenal 5-3 on penalties to progress to the quarter-finals, the following teams remain in the cup: Fleetwood Town, Bradford City, Manchester City, Brighton, Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, and Chelsea.

That list will be cut down tonight, and with many big hitters already out of the competition, both Liverpool and Chelsea will see progress to the next round as opening up a genuine opportunity to lift silverware this season.

For their fourth-round clash, the sides have selected the following lineups:

Giorgi Mamardashvili | The Georgian keeper is given his first start since Liverpool's last Carabao Cup outing,  against Tottenham at Anfield. Mamardashvili had a superb game against Spurs and will be hoping to replicate that performance tonight.

Kostas Tsimikas | Andoni Iraola's trust in Tsimikas seems to have grown in recent weeks, and now the Greek international gets another chance to impress against Chelsea tonight.

Virgil van Dijk | Van Dijk keeps his place at the heart of the Reds' defence. He has been ever-reliable so far this season.

Joe Gomez | Gomez starts to give Jeremy Jacquet a well-deserved rest.

Ronald Araujo | Araujo was superb once again against Brighton, putting in perhaps his best performance so far in a Red shirt. With Jeremie Frimpong still out with a hamstring problem, either Araujo or Gomez is likely to fill in at right-back.

Trey Nyoni | Nyoni had another impressive cameo performance against Brighton and has been awarded a start in tonight's huge clash against Chelsea.

Ryan Gravenberch | Gravenberch is another who has seen the head coach's trust in them grow over the course of the season. He has been heavily relied upon in the last few matches and will be again tonight.

James McConnell | McConnell keeps his place in the Carabao Cup. The young midfielder is likely to take up an advanced position in the Reds' midfield, as he has done during his previous appearances.

Cody Gakpo | Gakpo has continued the high levels of performance that he had been showing before his injury while on international duty. He will be hoping to add another goal contribution to go alongside those performances tonight.

Rio Ngumoha | Ngumoha is given the nod ahead of Bradley Barcola, allowing the Frenchman to rest after multiple high-energy performances. It is no blow to Liverpool, however, as Ngumoha's own quality and energy are immense. The youngster is in fine form at the moment, and there is no better opportunity than against his former youth side to show it.

Lewis Koumas | Koumas is another of the youngsters who are enjoying life under Iraola at the moment. The Basque coach knows he can rely on Koumas's hard-working mentality and extreme tenacity.

Starting XI: Mamardashvili, Tsimikas, van Dijk, Gomez, Araujo, Nyoni, Gravenberch, McConnell, Gakpo, Ngumoha, Koumas.

On the bench: Alisson, Endo, Jacquet, Wirtz, Isak, Mac Allister, Chiesa, Barcola, Chambers.
