Lucca Brughmans finalised a move to Liverpool on deadline day. After a MOTM performance for his loan club, Genk, Brughmans revealed some interesting behind-the-scenes details surrounding his transfer.

Who is Lucca Brughmans?

KRC Genk's talented 18-year-old goalkeeper, Lucca Brughmans, was Liverpool's final signing of the summer window on transfer deadline day last week. The young goalie immediately returned to Genk on loan, where he is the first-choice goalkeeper, and had a man-of-the-match performance in his latest game for the Belgian side yesterday.

Brughman's transfer to Liverpool developed quickly on deadline day amidst rumours of a potential sale of Giorgi Mamardashvili to Nottingham Forest. Following his recent MOTM performance, Brughman revealed some behind-the-scenes details surrounding his move.

Brughmans Reveals the Details of His Deadline Day Transfer

The 6ft 7" goalie spoke after a man of the match performance against RSC Anderlecht about his transfer to Liverpool:

"I remained very level-headed about it," he said of the deadline day move. "I lived in a dream for three days. Due to a lack of time, I was only able to visit the training complex. Yes, it was hectic, but I switched gears on Monday. I flew back to Belgium and immediately joined training. Back to reality quickly, I am glad it worked out this way."

Speaking about the 35 million euro transfer fee, he explained:

"That is something I have no idea about. That is not my job, so I leave it to the professionals."

"But it is a different world," he admitted, expressing how lucky he feels to "have people around [him] who are there to keep [his] feet on the ground."

He spoke about his younger brother, Beau, who plays in the Club Brugge academy:

"My family is everything. We are very close as a family. Of course, we were all together in Liverpool, and my little brother Beau was here tonight too. We try to attend as many of each other's matches as possible."

And Brughmans revealed some behind-the-scenes details about Liverpool's plan for him:

"I can't fully reveal Liverpool's plan for me. The intention is, however, to become their first-choice goalkeeper in the long term. I'm going to do everything I can to achieve that. I still need to take steps, and I'm happy that I can do that at Genk."

"It is very nice that such a big club is interested in you. Still, I realise very well that I am not there yet and that I need to focus on Genk for the time being."

Lucca Brughmans speaks very well at such a young age, and that goes some way to explaining how he - beyond just his talent - became Genk's first-choice goalkeeper.

It is interesting that he highlighted his long-term goal of becoming Liverpool's No. 1. To do so, he would have to go up against Giorgi Mamardashvili, who had himself been earmarked as Alisson's long-term replacement when he came in from Valencia.

However, Brughman's signing for such a large fee, his personal ambitions, and the rumours surrounding Mamardashvili's own future on transfer deadline day all suggest that Liverpool's plan for Alisson Becker's successor has shifted this summer.

Only time will tell if Brughmans will be the one who steps up to the challenge.
