Arsenal, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are all said to be interested in Jarell Quansah. And so, Liverpool will eventually be forced to decide whether or not to exercise the buy-back option built into the player's Bayer Leverkusen contract.
A Rising Bundesliga Star
In July 2025, Jarell Quansah left his boyhood club, Liverpool, to join Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth 35 million pounds. It has been a good move for Quansah, who has found some consistency, both in playing time and performances, in the Bundesliga.
After one season in Germany, Quansah earned a place in England's 2026 World Cup squad. He was relied on as a right-back option by Thomas Tuchel, which is something that has continued into the ongoing international break.
In the summer, Quansah was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal. However, no transfer was forthcoming. Now, Real Madrid are said to also be interested in the young defender.

Jarell Quansah has been the subject of long-term interest from many clubs, but Sky Sports Germany has now confirmed that Real Madrid scouts have been regularly monitoring the player at Leverkusen. The Spanish giants are said to see Quansah as a high-potential, long-term solution for their defence.
Interestingly, SPORTBILD noted how Jude Bellingham and Quansah are close friends in the national team.
Sky Sports Germany also confirmed that Premier League clubs are still interested in the player, particularly Chelsea and Arsenal.
Liverpool have been continuing to monitor their former player, and hold a 70 million euros (about 59 million pounds) buy-back option.
Liverpool to Be Forced Into a Decision?
With multiple clubs interested in making a move for Jarell Quansah, Liverpool will eventually be forced to make a decision in regard to their buy-back option.
SPORTBILD has suggested that it would be a surprise if Liverpool did not activate the 70 million euros buy-back clause, which will expire on the 15th of June 2027.
Author's Verdict: Should Liverpool Bring Quansah Home?
Quansah has been solid for Leverkusen and has seen his stature in the England national team grow exponentially over the last year. He has obviously improved, but does that mean Liverpool should bring him back?
Next summer, as it stands, Liverpool will have only two senior centre-halves on their books: Jeremy Jacquet and Giovanni Leoni. We do not know whether Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez will extend their contracts, or if the buy option in Ronald Araujo's loan deal will be activated.
So, there is a strong chance that Liverpool will need to bring in defensive reinforcements next summer.
Quansah knows the club, has improved during his time in Germany, and is versatile across the centre-half and right-back positions - something that Andoni Iraola is currently finding helpful in his use of Ronald Araujo.
In fact, it makes sense to directly compare Quansah and Araujo as future squad options. Both can play centre-half and right-back, but Araujo is 27 whilst Quansah is 23. Furthermore, Quansah's buy-back clause is only set at about 10 million pounds more than the buy option included in Araujo's loan deal.
It is an interesting thought experiment to ponder how Liverpool might handle a defensive refresh next summer, and any future transfer of Jarell Quansah will have a huge impact.
