Three weeks into the 2026 World Cup and the Liverpool contingent have been hard at work throughout the group stage. 29 June will be the first game with a Liverpool player in the knockout stage of these finals.
In total there are eight Liverpool players, spread across six nations, that have helped their countries reach the final 32 stage. These are:

How Liverpool’s players are performing at the tournament
Players from the Reds have contributed the second-most goals of this tournament so far with a combined goals and assists of 16, three behind Real Madrid.
It is safe to say that Liverpool players are having a good tournament.
Alisson has started all of Brazil’s matches as they finished top of Group C. He produced some good saves against Scotland in their final group match to keep his second clean sheet. Brazil face Japan on Monday.
Alexis Mac Allister helped Argentina win all three of their group games as they seek to retain the World Cup. He will play against minnows Cape Verde in the next round.
Virgil van Dijk has captained the Netherlands to the round of 32. Compatriots Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch have also had great tournaments with the former scoring two goals so far. Holland take on 2022 semi-finalists Morocco on 29 June.
Florian Wirtz has yet to make his mark on the tournament with Sky Sports Germany singling him out with Musiala for their performance against Ecuador. Germany have had a stop-start tournament but play Paraguay on 29 June in the round of 32.
Alexander Isak has burst into life this tournament scoring a goal and providing three assists to help Sweden progress. He will play against France in the next round on 30 June.
Victor Munoz has yet to play for Spain in the World Cup after picking up an injury before the tournament began. He could pick up minutes in the round of 32 against Austria.
