The 2025/2026 season may have only just ended but Liverpool's next games to kick off next season have been pencilled in. The Reds will embark on a short tour of the United States of America, less than a week after the World Cup final in the same country, before two fixtures against European opposition at Anfield.
These five matches will be the first opportunity for the new Liverpool manager to test his squad before the Premier League's first game on Saturday 22 August.

The team will spend two weeks in the US, playing the following matches:
- Saturday July 25, versus Sunderland, (Nashville, TN, GEODIS Park, 23:00 BST/5:00 PM CDT)
- Wednesday July 29, versus Wrexham (New York City, NY, Yankee Stadium, 00:30 BST/7:30 PM EDT
- Monday 3 August, versus Leeds (Soldier Field, Chicago, IL, 21:00 BST/03:00 PM CDT)
Anfield Friendlies (August 2026)
The team returns to Merseyside to conclude their preparations with two fixtures against European sides:
- Sunday 9 August, versus Monaco, 21:30 (Anfield)
- Monday 17 August, versus Como, 01:00 (Anfield)
Why Do Teams Play Abroad In Pre-Season?
Clubs can make a lot of commercial revenue from foreign tours, outstripping the sporting concerns of long travel times and potentially difficult playing conditions. Former Reds' boss Jürgen Klopp opined on this during a tour to Asia in 2022:
"First and foremost I'm a coach and if we could do two weeks in Austria and train twice a day there, that would be better. But we know how big our fanbase is in Asia and to be close to them is a wonderful thing."
The financial considerations have been noted by the club. Liverpool said, when announcing the US tour back in March, that the USA is the club's primary international retail market and hosts more than 26 million Liverpool fans.

The club generated £702 million in total revenue.
Commerical revenue has become a growing proportion of this total over the last five years. For the published accounts for the 2025/2025 season it stood at £323 million, 46% of all revenue. Compared to accounts ending May 31, 2019, the last full season before the pandemic, commercial revenue was just £188 million, 35% of all revenue.
So while fans in the US get to enjoy Liverpool before the rest of us next season, the club and its owners Fenway Sports Group will be hoping the squad bring the green back home.
