The Paris Saint-Germain winger scored for France in the third place play-off though they were beaten by England 6-4.
Should Liverpool go all out for Bradley Barcola's signature?
Definitely
0%Maybe a cheaper option would be better
0%Bradley Barcola might have been disappointed to start on the bench against England in last night's third place play-off but his half time introduction sparked a third French revolution - but it was too little too late.
France were already 4-0 down in one of the most surreal World Cup matches of recent memory.
Kylian Mbappe had pulled a goal back for the French in the 48th minute before turning provider. His expertly weighted pass allowed Barcola to outmuscle Jarrell Quansah and smash a near post strike past the helpless Dean Henderson in goal.
Barcola wasn't able to provide another goal or an assist as France fell to a 6-4 defeat - the highest scoring World Cup game since Hungary 10-1 El Salvador in 1982. Despite France's array of attacking talent, Barcola was able to play an important role in his nation's run.
Bradley Barcola's 2026 World Cup statistics
The Paris Saint-Germain winger played in all eight of France's fixtures, starting in four of them including the semi-final defeat to Spain. He had to contend with the attacking prowess of Mbappe, Michael Olise, Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele to force himself into the starting XI.
He scored three goals in the tournament:
- Senegal (group stage)
- Sweden (round of 32)
- England (third place play-off)
Barcola also registered a late assist in the French 4-1 rout of Norway in the group stage.
The latest on Liverpool's pursuit of Barcola
Barcola has reportedly drawn interest from English clubs in this transfer window: Liverpool and Arsenal. With Gunners target Morgan Rogers set to join Chelsea this window, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said: “Many Arsenal fans asking me, now Arsenal are going all in for Barcola, now Arsenal are working on Barcola?
“Guys, my understanding on Barcola is that so far Arsenal have not made any checks.
“While they made some checks on Yan Diomande, for example, they didn’t make any fresh check on Barcola over the recent days.
“So, at the moment, the conversation Barcola Arsenal is still cold, I would say."
He noted that Liverpool are interested in the Frenchman as a replacement for Mohamed Salah who left the club upon the expiry of his contract.
“Liverpool remain very attentive to the situation, Liverpool remain very keen on Barcola," Romano said.
With the World Cup out of the way expect more transfers to be completed.
