Jürgen Klopp's potential announcement as Germany's next national team manager will be felt strongly in Liverpool due to the great man's profound connection to the Club. However, it'll be felt much more tangibly through the invaluable tutelage he will provide Liverpool's star man, Florian Wirtz.
Why Klopp Will Help Get the Best out of Florian Wirtz
It's a question that many Liverpool fans have surely asked themselves: how would Klopp get the best out of Florian Wirtz? That thought experiment is about to become reality as Klopp nears the Germany hot seat.
We don't yet know exactly how Klopp might set up Die Mannschaft, but we do know the principles that will become non-negotiable for any player wanting to wear that famous white shirt. Intensity, directness, desire, passion - all things that Germany have been lacking for years... and everything Liverpool lacked last season.
It'll be a huge boon to have Liverpool's talisman-in-waiting be coached by two managers from the same school of football, with the general similarity in playing style of Andoni Iraola and Klopp plain to see. Furthermore, direct coaching from a manager as good as Klopp is likely to help Wirtz refine any areas of his game that require improvement, areas that Klopp will be more than capable of helping him identify.

A big question mark remains over Florian Wirtz's position on the pitch, particularly for Liverpool but also now for Germany. Under Julian Nagelsmann, Wirtz was often deployed from the left. This position did seem to get a positive return from Wirtz, at least until the 2026 World Cup came around. But it's fair to say that no Germany player covered themselves in glory during their short-lived campaign.
It is likely Klopp will come with a fresh view on things, in which case Wirtz may find himself changing position. Perhaps he will play as the number 10?
What is undoubtable, however, is that Wirtz will have a key role under Klopp:
If you really want Flo Wirtz to get into rhythm, if you want the place to really be buzzing, then give him the ball, because that's when he feels completely at home. It's important to involve him because that's when Flo can feel confident and comfortable on the pitch.
Klopp has also spoken about Wirtz's role on the pitch - particularly in contrast to how we saw him used at Liverpool last season:
He shouldn't drop back and get the ball from his own penalty area, and we expect him to start making plays. We have to find moments where we can use this position because, with his positioning, he creates a lot of space for the players next to him, for the full-backs, and for everyone who can make runs into those spaces.
Author's Verdict: Klopp to Transform Germany, and Florian Wirtz?
Clearly, Klopp has already been thinking about how to get the most out of Florian Wirtz. Now it seems he'll have the chance to do so, and it wouldn't be smart to bet against him succeeding.
With his understanding of Wirtz as a player better suited to receiving the ball further forward, and a crossover in principles with Liverpool's own new Head Coach, it's certain that Klopp's appointment to Germany represents a boon for the Reds and for Florian Wirtz's Liverpool future.
It'll be a little while until we see Germany take to competitive action again, but it'll be quite likely that they enter their next tournament as favourites - with Wirtz as the key cog in the German machine being steered in a new direction by Klopp.
