Liverpool’s summer-long pursuit of Bradley Barcola appears to be approaching its decisive stage, with fresh reports suggesting the Reds and Paris Saint-Germain are finally closing the gap on a potentially club-record deal.

French reporter Romain Collet Gaudin claims that a deal between Liverpool and PSG is now “very close” to being concluded. That follows a significant day of negotiations, with further reports indicating Liverpool are preparing what could effectively become their final offer for the 23-year-old France international.
Reports that Barcola’s camp is increasingly confident an agreement will be reached before the 1st September deadline, although PSG have maintained a valuation of around £145million.
Liverpool are believed to have been reluctant to reach that figure, but the two clubs are now said to be considerably closer in their respective valuations.

Reports in France have added further momentum. Get French Football News, citing L’Équipe, claims Barcola and his representatives are confident the move will happen and that the winger has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool.
Nothing is official yet, and that distinction remains important. Liverpool themselves have carried the latest reports under their “Media Watch” banner, stressing that the claims do not represent the club’s official position.
However, the pieces are beginning to fall into place. Barcola has been absent from PSG’s recent squads, while Liverpool’s need for attacking reinforcements has become increasingly obvious following Mohamed Salah’s departure. Andoni Iraola recently acknowledged Liverpool still require additions, particularly in the wide areas, despite insisting his current squad can compete.
Barcola certainly has the profile to transform that attack. Predominantly operating from the left but capable of playing across the frontline, his speed, direct running and ability to attack space would appear tailor-made for Iraola’s aggressive football.
