French Sources Provide Latest Update on Barcola Saga
According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins and French football journalist sources, negotiations have progressed to the point where an agreement is anticipated. While the transfer is not yet officially complete, the latest development represents a significant step forward in Liverpool’s long-running pursuit of the 23-year-old winger.
Barcola has been one of Liverpool’s most prominent attacking targets throughout the summer, with the club looking to reshape its forward line following Mohamed Salah’s departure.

The Frenchman enjoyed another productive campaign with PSG in 2025/26, scoring 13 goals and registering six assists across 48 appearances in all competitions, according to FBref. In Ligue 1 alone, he produced 11 goals, while he added two goals and four assists in 16 Champions League appearances.
Those numbers underline why PSG have been reluctant to let him leave cheaply. Earlier reports indicated that Paris had placed a huge valuation on Barcola, with figures as high as €170 million being discussed. However, more recent reporting suggests PSG could now lower their demands towards approximately €145 million as their own attacking options continue to expand.

The situation has become even more intriguing after Barcola was left out of PSG’s squad for the fixture against Lens. Luis Enrique’s comments about wanting committed players at the club have only intensified speculation that the winger’s future may now lie away from Paris.
Barcola won’t rejoin the PSG squad until his future is resolved, PSG are not wanting to risk a potential transfer, with Liverpool expected to make a new offer soon.
Liverpool are also pursuing another of PSG’s attacking forces, Ibrahim Mbaye. RMC Sport also reported that Mbaye had agreed financial terms on a five-year contract with the Reds and had chosen Liverpool over Bayer Leverkusen. Importantly, reports indicate Liverpool want both players rather than viewing Mbaye as an alternative to Barcola.
For Liverpool, Barcola would represent a statement signing and potentially one of the biggest transfers in the club’s history.
The deal is not done yet, but with negotiations advancing and expectations of an agreement growing, Anfield may be edging closer to landing one of Europe’s most exciting young wingers.
