After earning his first cap for the Three Lions against Czechia, Liverpool continues to monitor Alex Scott's future at Bournemouth amid a contract stalemate.

Liverpool have been looking at bringing in midfield reinforcement, and this has led them to conclude that a player Andoni Iraola has previously worked with is a perfect match for the club.

The player in question is AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who has had a steady rise to fame since signing on the south coast.

Alex Scott Player Profile

Since arriving from EFL Championship side Bristol City for around £25 million, Alex Scott has gone on to play 95 games for the Cherries and developed hugely under former boss and current Reds head coach, Andoni Iraola.

The Spaniard made Scott a key cog in his Bournemouth side, trusting him with the responsibility of recycling the ball from the backline and distributing it to the forwards.

And this is a task that the Englishman took to brilliantly, becoming the modern-day number 8 and one of the best not only in the Premier League, but in European football as a whole.

The composure and calmness on the ball make him a player who can be the difference between a disappointing loss and an incredible victory, and it's exactly why every top-level club wants to be the next destination for the recently capped England midfielder.

Where Does Alex Scott's Future Lie?

There seems to be an inevitability surrounding Scott's exit from Bournemouth, with many believing that it is only a matter of time until he leaves.

His quality on the pitch, as well as the multiple contracts that he has turned down from Bournemouth off the pitch, makes a transfer to a bigger club a strong likelihood in the near future.

In the summer window just gone, Chelsea appeared to be in the box seat for Alex Scott's signature, with the Blues even offering £64 million to try and tempt Bournemouth into selling.

But the offer was rejected immediately, with the Cherries believing that they were under no pressure to sell and that, if they were to do business, it would take an offer significantly higher than £64 million.

Next summer will be when Scott enters the final year of his deal, meaning if Bournemouth are to make a sale at a significant profit on what they bought him for, they would need to complete that transfer by the end of next summer's transfer window.

Iraola Maintains A 'Positive Relationship' With His Former Player

One of the logical next steps in Alex Scott's young career would be a move to Anfield, linking up with his former boss, Andoni Iraola.

Iraola was a major part in Scott taking his game up a few levels, and with the midfielder knowing exactly what the Reds boss demands and likewise Andoni Iraola knowing the quality and attributes that the 23-year-old brings to a team.

According to Sami Mokbel at BBC Sport, Liverpool are one of several clubs that maintain an interest in Alex Scott, with Andoni Iraola said to still maintain a positive relationship with the England international.

The report goes on to say that Bournemouth are not willing to entertain offers during the upcoming January window.
