Liverpool have reportedly made an initial approach to AS Monaco over the potential signing of highly-rated winger Maghnes Akliouche, with the French youngster emerging as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects.

During the 2025/26 season, Akliouche racked up six goals and six assists and made a cameo appearance for France during the World Cup 2026.  

The news suggests Liverpool’s recruitment team remain focused on adding youthful quality to Andoni Iraola’s squad while planning for both the present and the future. 

Although discussions are thought to be at an early stage, Akliouche’s profile fits the mould of the dynamic, technically gifted players the club have prioritised in recent transfer windows.

At just 24 years old, Akliouche has developed into one of Ligue 1’s standout creative players. A product of Monaco’s renowned academy, the Frenchman has steadily climbed through the ranks, transforming from a promising teenager into one of the club’s most influential attacking outlets.

Predominantly operating from the right wing, Akliouche is equally comfortable drifting into central areas or playing behind the striker. His left foot is arguably his greatest quality, allowing him to cut inside, create shooting opportunities and deliver incisive passes into dangerous areas.

Unlike many traditional wingers, he thrives between the lines, using close control, quick changes of direction and intelligent movement to manipulate defenders rather than relying solely on raw pace.

His technical ability is complemented by exceptional vision. Akliouche regularly ranks among Ligue 1’s most creative players, consistently producing key passes and creating chances for teammates. His composure in possession and willingness to receive the ball under pressure make him particularly suited to possession-based football, qualities that would undoubtedly appeal to Liverpool’s coaching staff.

Defensively, the Frenchman has also matured significantly. Monaco have demanded high-intensity pressing from their forwards, and Akliouche has shown an impressive work ethic without the ball, something that would be essential in Liverpool’s system. His tactical discipline and understanding of pressing-style play suggest he could adapt quickly to the demands of Premier League football.
