Manchester United's third Premier League outing comes in the form of an away trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to face a thin Everton side. Both sides had mixed transfer windows with an overall feeling that the arrivals have been thin.

Manchester United welcomed three midfielders completing a majorly needed rebuild in the core of the squad with Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba making the move to Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick's side are fresh from a 5-2 thumping against newly promoted Ipswich Town securing their first three points of the season. A heroic hat trick from Bruno Fernandes saw United claim a much needed win.

Their last trip to Merseyside saw a 1-0 away win thanks to a thunderous counter attack finished off by Benjamin Sesko as the super form under Michael Carrick continued. However, with this season already having some turbulence, Premier League legend Alan Shearer has gave his verdict on how the game will play out.

Shearer Backs Man Utd's First Draw Of The Season

Making his predictions for the Metro, Shearer saw Fernandes as a key player for the tie after him being the difference maker already this season.

He stated, "Bruno Fernandes is unbelievable; he’s been brilliant for Man United. This game is a tough one for Everton after a tough transfer window. It’s always an exciting game this one though, Everton against Man United, particularly at Everton. So, I’m going go for a score draw.”

Everton have not been an easy opponent for United in recent seasons, with the Toffees even winning at Old Trafford with ten men last season. United will look to avoid another upset in their push to climb the table.

Roundtable previously reported the return of Mason Mount, who particularly shone in pre-season for United. His presence could be the energy in the midfield that Carrick's side needs in a tough away game.

Everton will be looking to continue their unbeaten start to the season but the sale of star man Iliman Ndiaye and failure to secure Florian Balogun on deadline day will be a major loss come Sunday afternoon.

Carrick's Midfield Dilemma

The return of Mason Mount adds to the complications for Carrick who is still looking for his best midfield trio. The win against Ipswich saw Fernandes playing ahead of Tielemans and Kobbie Mainoo.

Baleba's debut after he returns from injury will also make Carrick's job harder with his presence surely holding the defensive cover that is desperately needed in the midfield.

Overall, a tough fixture for Carrick's players, but one that given the context of the two teams, should result in a strong United display.

United's biggest concern still comes at the left back position, with Luke Shaw at the centre of attention as United conceded first against Ipswich. Failure to secure a fullback on deadline day may prove vital in their ability to see out games and deal with technical opponents.
