Michael Carrick had several injury concerns to manage as Manchester United welcomed Brentford to Old Trafford in a crucial match in the race for Champions League qualification.

United began the game on the front foot and soon took control. It wasn’t long before Casemiro rose at the far post to head home the opener, continuing a pattern that has become familiar for the Reds this season.

After going ahead, Brentford’s Igor Thiago threatened on a few occasions, but United quickly responded. Benjamin Šeško doubled the lead before halftime, finishing neatly after being set up by Bruno Fernandes.

The second half saw both sides create chances, though Brentford had to wait until the 90th minute to find the net, with Mathias Jensen scoring from distance.

Despite late pressure from the visitors, Carrick’s disciplined defence stood firm, ensuring United held on for a valuable three points.

A brilliant header to score his ninth of the season. A monstrous display out of possession too.

Kobbie Mainoo - 8/10

Almost produced the assist of the season. Some very good moments throughout.

Bryan Mbeumo - 6/10

Things still not quite coming off for him in attack.

Bruno Fernandes - 8/10

Another game. Another assist. Brilliant work to set up Šeško and also made some other chances throughout.

Amad - 3/10

Missed several golden opportunities and subbed at half-time. He did win the ball back for Šeško goal but was poor overall.

Benjamin Šeško - 7/10

Quiet start to the game but was sharp to score United's second goal.
