Man Utd vs Spurs PREVIEW!More Videos

Manchester United are under pressure to turn their season around after winning just two of their first seven matches in all competitions. Michael Carrick's side now face Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford, knowing another poor result could have serious consequences.

The Reds lost to Hull City on the opening Premier League weekend but responded with a 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town, inspired by Bruno Fernandes' hat-trick. They followed that result with a comfortable 4-0 win against Sabah FK in the Champions League, but have since gone three games without a victory.

United drew 2-2 with Everton before suffering consecutive home defeats to Manchester City and Brighton. The loss to Brighton was particularly disappointing, as the Reds let a 2-0 lead slip and were eliminated from the Carabao Cup.

Carrick's side then dropped more points in a 1-1 draw with Fulham, with Matheus Cunha's late equaliser rescuing a point after Lisandro Martínez scored an own goal.

Carrick issues United injury latest

It's been three weeks since United fans heard from their manager, and following the international break, Carrick held his usual pre-match press conference ahead of the Spurs clash.

While a number of topics were discussed, the United boss also offered an update on his injured and recovering players.

"Patrick [Dorgu] came off [for Denmark against Wales] and looks like he'll be out for a number of weeks," the United boss admitted.

"Nous [Mazraoui] came off and took a knock. He's not quite right, so we'll see how he is.

"Carlos [Baleba] is improving, has trained a lot, Amad, Kobbie [Mainoo] and Marcus [Rashford] have done a little bit of training. Ben [Šeško= is further away with the injury he has, so he won't be ready."

Carrick needs to become more flexible

Injuries have played a role in United's poor start to the season. Not having Baleba has meant United have, at times, looked a little slow in midfield, while Šeško's mixed availability has contributed to a lack of options up front.

Amad is essential to United's press, and his injury, which has kept him out of the whole season so far, is an underrated reason United have looked slow and static without the ball.

However, with multiple players returning to action in the coming weeks, Carrick must ensure he becomes much more flexible in using his squad and is not too afraid to make bold calls about who plays where.

Players like Leny Yoro have had a good international break, while those who stayed at Carrington have worked hard to improve their fitness. Carrick must use the full breadth of his squad over the next six fixtures.
