Ayden Heaven hails Leny Yoro, calling the young defender a complete package possessing every attribute needed for top-tier success at Manchester United.

Do Man Utd ALREADY have their centre-backs of the future?

Ayden Heaven signed for Manchester United in January 2025 from Arsenal for around £1.5 million, with many questioning why the London club would have let one of their Academy stars leave for so cheaply.

However, it did not take long for the young centre-back to prove himself in Red, playing a vital role in several Europa League knockout ties on the way to the 2024/25 final.

At the start of the current campaign, Heaven once again found minutes hard to come by, but an injury to Matthijs de Ligt saw him return to the fold under Rúben Amorim, and he was excellent.

While the return to a back four under Michael Carrick has since hindered his minutes again, there is very little doubt that Heaven has an incredibly high ceiling at United and could go on to become a very well-established player in the future.

Heaven feels Yoro can go to the top of football

However, Heaven is not the only young centre-back United are trying to grow into future world-beaters. Leny Yoro, who joined from Lille in the summer of 2024, has been widely touted to be one of the best young defensive talents in world football.

Heaven and Yoro have since formed a close bond on and off the field, with Harry Maguire recently mentioning that the duo often stay behind together after training to carry out extra work with United's defensive coaches.

Heaven recently sat down with club media to speak about Yoro, and was asked about his relationship with the Frenchman. "Yeah, we learn from each other, you know, every day because we're mostly paired up in training," Heaven said.

"As I've said before, we always do extras with Jonathan Woodgate and Jonny Evans. So, yeah, we're always learning, me and Leny, and we help each other a lot."

When pressed on Maguire's recent comments about staying behind for further sessions, Heaven replied, "Me and Leny, we've still got a lot to learn, because we're still really young and we've got the [coaches], they help us at the end of the sessions.

"We're just always trying to improve, you know."

Then, when asked to describe Yoro, the English defender was incredibly complimentary. "Quick. Really quick," Heaven said about his teammate.

"Good on the ball, good in the air. He's got all you need really, as a centre-back here. He'll be top."

Considering how calm and collected Heaven himself is both with the ball at his feet, and when under aerial attack, the duo have a blend that could go on to form one of the strongest centre-back partnerships in the league in future.

Carrick verdict

While Yoro has had a recent string of starts following LIsandro Martínez's injury, Heaven has found it harder to come by minutes. He's only made four appearances, all off the bench.

However, the 19-year-old is not phased by the recent lack of starts, and has sung the praises of Carrick's handling of the latter's coaching career at Old Trafford so far.

"Michael is a good coach," Heaven said when asked how the United boss has handled those impacting from the bench.

"He's always looking to give opportunities."He's always seeing what he can do to help us as a player, especially me. Being very young, he helps me."
