Matheus Cunha has explained his ambitions for Manchester United next season while he competes at the World Cup with Brazil this summer.
Matheus Cunha enjoyed a successful debut campaign at Manchester United after signing from Wolves in the summer of 2025.
It was an exciting move, especially after Cunha's standout performance at Old Trafford in the previous season.
The Brazilian ended the campaign with 10 goals and two assists. A respectable return considering United only played two games in cup competitions during the season.
While the 27-year-old is currently focused on performing at the World Cup with Brazil, he is also eyeing improvements at United next term.
Cunha Explains His Ambitions For Man Utd Next Season
Cunha came off the bench in Brazil's World Cup opener against Morocco. Despite impressing in that cameo, he was unable to push his country towards a victory, with the game ending 1-1 instead.
The United star has also been discussing his time with United in an interview with AS this week. He was asked about his ambitions for next year and whether the club can push to challenge for the title.
"In the final stretch of last season, we achieved excellent results and performances against top-of-the-table teams, which allowed us to secure a Champions League spot," the forward said.
"We are aware of the stature of this club and the place it deserves. With everyone united and working for the good of the club, we hope to get Manchester United back on the winning track."
United's 2026/27 campaign will be documented by Amazon cameras, with the club agreeing to a record-breaking 'All or Nothing' documentary after refusing to do so under former boss Ruben Amorim.
United back in Champions League
United are back in the Champions League next season and will have to juggle those midweek games with Premier League fixtures again.
Michael Carrick's side are far from the favourites in that competition, but cup football - as being shown in the World Cup this summer - is unpredictable.
Asked whether United can dream about winning a fourth Champions League title, Cunha refused to be dragged into a straight answer.
"We're going to work hard to honor the shirt we wear and all the wonderful history this club has. That's our promise to the fans," he added. "We want next season to be a season of triumphs."
