Roundtable understands that Noah Ajayi and his camp have agreed on terms to sign his first professional contract at Manchester United, and he is expected to sign it soon. 

Roundtable previously reported that the German-born wide player was in "advanced talks" to sign his first professional deal, and it is now understood that a deal is expected to be finalised. 

Ajayi has impressed coaches with his "exceptional performances" over the last 12 months. He played a key role in the FA Youth Cup final run under Darren Fletcher last season. 

The left-winger is expected to train more with Michael Carrick's first team this season, although competition is fierce in his favoured position. United already have Matheus Cunha, Patrick Dorgu and Marcus Rashford as left-sided attackers, with Tynan Thompson also an option after moving from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. 

A 6'2 left-winger, Ajayi's biggest strength is his dribbling ability on the wing. Fans of the academy have compared him to Marcus Rashford for his on-the-ball running style and powerful strikes, which proved important in the FA Youth Cup quarter-final against Sunderland last season. 

Ajayi does not turn 18 until late November, but has already made his Under-21s debut. He featured against Real Madrid's U21's side at Old Trafford last season, after impressing for Manchester United's U18s. 

When his side has the ball, Ajayi likes to stay wide and hug the touchline, spreading the opposition's backline to create more space in the middle. He makes runs in behind or holds his position, depending on what is needed at the time.

While he is right-footed, Ajayi can cross with his left foot from the byline, meaning he has a two-way threat from the left flank. 

When playing together, the 17-year-old combined well with JJ Gabriel, who has been linked with moves to Barcelona and Real Madrid this week. 

While a young player signing a professional contract is unlikely to make a major difference, Michael Carrick may choose to revert Patrick Dorgu to defence on a more permanent basis. 

Dorgu was signed to play left-wing-back under Rúben Amorim, but exclusively played as a left-winger for Carrick until the 1-0 loss to Manchester City when Phil Foden was dismissed. 

The young Dane was reportedly handed a rest against Brighton and Hove Albion in midweek and could return to left-back against Fulham, although Carrick has also spoken on Luke Shaw's fitness ahead of the trip to London. 

Without another natural left-back, Dorgu looks set to play several matches at left-back this season, which could create more opportunities for Ajayi in cup competitions.
