Carlos Baleba made his Manchester United debut as Michael Carrick's side suffered another disappointing result in the Premier League.
Manchester United drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur in another disappointing performance from Michael Carrick's side, despite an extended international break.
After a very poor first half, Carlos Baleba made his Manchester United debut 59 minutes into the tie and immediately won the fans over with an excellent turn and long ball to Bruno Fernandes.
Bryan Mbeumo finally handed United the lead, when Matheus Cunha danced past two Spurs defenders to find the Cameroon international free in the penalty area. A great turn saw Mbeumo make just enough space to find the far post from inside the penalty area in front of the Stretford End.
Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off after 79 minutes, following an incident with Luke Shaw. The midfielder flew in for a scissor-kick challenge on Shaw before headbutting him just seconds later.
Dominic Solanke levelled the game in added time. He won the battle with Lisandro Martínez to earn himself a free header inside the penalty area, with Lammens left as simply a spectator.
Player Ratings
Senne Lammens 5.5/10
Very poor mistake playing out was immediately redeemed with a brilliant reactionary save. Not the best performance with his feet.
Leny Yoro 7/10
In at right-back ahead of Dalot, following an impressive debut for France. He made a great tackle in the 14th minute from inside his own penalty area. Another after 37 minutes. Unfortunate to be substituted.
Harry Maguire 4/10
Numerous mistakes inside the first 20 minutes, and did not improve. Will need to play better than that if he is to remain a first-choice player ahead of Yoro and De Ligt.
Lisandro Martínez 5/10
Continually forced to bail out Maguire, but struggled to deal with Solanke. He was completely at fault for the Spurs equaliser.
Luke Shaw 6.5/10
Nowhere to be seen in the first 30 minutes – like most of the XI – but a great goal-line clearance just after half-time. Did well to maintain some composure after Bentancur's reckless challenge.
Kobbie Mainoo 5/10
Couldn't handle Tottenham's press, but did very well to deny a Spurs goal after Shaw's clearance, and made another excellent block to stop Solanke. Baleba's introduction definitely helped him mentally, if not tactically.
Youri Tielemans 4/10
Too slow, but made a good tackle to deny Gallagher just before the break. The good moments are brilliant, but the bad moments are so, so poor.
Amad 5.5/10
First game of the season, but looked bright in patches before being replaced by Joshua Zirkzee.
Bruno Fernandes 5/10
Playing too high and became frustrated. Great chance after 53 minutes, but didn't get the shot off quickly enough.
Matheus Cunha 7.5/10
Back on the left for the first time since Sabah, and was United's only hope in the first half. Put into trouble by Lammens in the 55th minute and not only danced through Spurs players, but almost won a goal for Youri Tielemans. He also did very well for Mbeumo's opener.
Bryan Mbeumo 6.5/10
Back up front after a difficult time on the flank, and he took his first chance with an excellent finish on the spin inside the box. He should get many more chances to make that spot his own. Struggled on the right.
Substitutes
Carlos Baleba 7/10
Replaced Youri Tielemans for his Manchester United debut, and instantly won fans over with good passing, large ground coverage, and tidy dribbling.
Joshua Zirkzee 6.5/10
Replaced Amad, and injected some much-needed energy. He beat several players with good skill on the left flank, but just overplayed it when he drove inside.
Diogo Dalot 6/10
Replaced Leny Yoro and was too negative. He needs to drive at players more often.
Marcus Rashford 6/10
Replaced Matheus Cunha.
Ayden Heaven 6/10
Replaced Luke Shaw.
