Bruno Fernandes has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season and he has received praise from one of Ligue 1's finest talents.
Manchester United currently sit third in the Premier League table this season and their positive campaign has largely been down to club captain Bruno Fernandes.
Originally operating in a deeper role under Ruben Amorim, the midfielder remained a top performer but has moved to a different level since Michael Carrick took charge.
Fernandes has 11 goal contributions in the 10 games since Carrick was appointed and could still break the record for the most assists in a single Premier League campaign.
Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry currently hold the record with 20 assists but the United playmaker has 16 so far this season with seven games remaining.
Whether or not he reaches that tally, Fernandes has produced another top season and is in the running for the Player of the Year award.
Neves: Fernandes is Premier League MVP
Fernandes continued his good form for Portugal over the international break, adding another two assists in a win over the USA.
Fellow Portuguese star and PSG midfielder Joao Neves is known to be a big fan of Fernandes. There were rumours that he could join United before he was signed by the French giants in 2024.
In a recent interview with MVPs, Neves named the United star as his Premier League MVP (Most Valuable Player) for this season due to his contributions in front of goal.
"Bruno Fernandes," the 21-year-old immediately responded when asked for his Premier League MVP. "He scores a lot of goals and he’ll do a lot of assists."
Fernandes' influence away from the pitch
Neves has been a star for Portugal in the last couple of years and he has previously explained how Fernandes helped him settle into the camp.
“Bruno was a very important person to me. He helped me integrate, and he made me realise that I didn’t need to be nervous," the youngster previously explained.
That is the kind of influence Fernandes has away from the pitch and why he is so much more difficult to replace than most players.
It will be hard enough for United to eventually try and replace his influence on the pitch but it is even tougher to imagine how his impact on the training ground with teammates and staff can be replaced.
That is why United want the Portuguese star to remain at Old Trafford beyond the end of the season and fans feel exactly the same.
