Manchester United emerges as a top contender for Morgan Rogers, with rivals exiting the chase. Discover why this versatile attacker could be United's next key signing.
Last summer’s transfer window brought a significant shake-up to Manchester United’s attacking lineup, with the club introducing an entirely new forward line.
In response to the previous season’s struggles in front of goal, United signed Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, and Benjamin Šeško. At the same time, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Rasmus Højlund, and Jadon Sancho all departed, either on loan or through permanent moves.
The new trio has made an immediate impact, combining for 26 goals and helping propel United to the third-highest scoring side this season with 58 goals, trailing only Manchester City and Arsenal.
As the 2025/26 Premier League season nears its conclusion and United look ahead to a likely return to Champions League football, attention is already turning to the summer transfer window. Strengthening the midfield has been identified as the club’s top priority.
Man Utd still in the race for Morgan Rogers
While Aston Villa still have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League football, currently sitting in 4th in the Premier League table, as well being in the Europa League semi-final, Morgan Rogers is reportedly likely to leave the club this summer.
After confirming that the club will be looking for a left winger this summer, a whole host of names have been linked, with Karim Adeyemi and Yan Diomande all being identified in recent weeks.
With INEOS' recent transfer strategy of signing Premier League-proven talent, there is no doubt that Morgan Rogers will be high up on the list of potential options, with the 23-year-old being comfortable playing on the left wing, as well as a No.10, and could end up being the long-term replacement for United's captain, Bruno Fernandes.
As reported by Ben Jacobs, while writing for talkSPORT, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG are the most genuine suitors for the talented forward, with Liverpool and Bayern reportedly dropping out of the race to sign Rogers.
Despite the Premier League interest, Jacobs also states that he is just as open to a move abroad to the likes of PSG as he is to staying in England.
Man Utd's potential advantage in the race for Rogers
Despite struggling to replicate the electric form he showed in the first half of the season since the turn of the year, Rogers has still notched 12 goals and nine assists across this season, helping to lift Aston Villa to fourth in the league.
In terms of potential suitors, Arsenal and United would both be a great destination for Rogers, with Martin Odegaard under performing this season, and United once again being over reliant on Fernandes.
While Chelsea are also reportedly serious about their interest, the current disarray at the club may dissuade the 23-year-old from making the move to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester United's advantage in the race comes from the fact that Michael Carrick managed him at Middlesbrough for a season before he made the move to the Midlands.
Jason Wilcox, United's current Director of Football also has history with Rogers, with Wilcox working with the winger during his time at Manchester City.
