Manchester United have endured a dismal start to the season, and pressure is rapidly growing on Michael Carrick.

United have only won two games so far this season, which were against Ipswich Town and Sabah at home.

Carrick would have been hoping for an upturn in form after the international break, but there has been little improvement, both in terms of results and performances.

United drew 1-1 against Tottenham Hotspur at home, conceding an equaliser late on after Roberto De Zerbi's men went down to 10 men following Rodrigo Bentancur being sent off. United then followed that up with a 2-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League in the Spanish capital.

United now prepare to travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Sunday, with Carrick's men in desperate need of three points.

United draw up three-man shortlist

United are reportedly assessing the market for a new head coach, should the club make the decision to part ways with Carrick.

According to talkSPORT, United hold an interest in Fabian Hürzeler, Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte.

Christopher Vivell, United's director of recruitment, is pushing Nagelsmann's case internally. However, Jason Wilcox, United's director of football, favours Fabian Hürzeler.

Conte and Nagelsmann are both currently available, while Hürzeler's contract at Brighton and Hove Albion runs until June 2029.

Wilcox and Berrada should be sacked

Carrick is struggling, and he probably is not a good enough head coach to bring United to where they want to be. That being said, United's problems are far bigger than Carrick.

Wilcox and Omar Berrada, United's chief executive officer, have made several mistakes, proving over and over again that they are incompetent.

The decision to appoint Ruben Amorim and then keep him in a job for as long as they did was a prime example of a leadership team that does not know what they are doing. The decision to give Carrick the permanent role is also proving to be a poor decision, although they did not back him enough during the summer transfer window.

Wilcox and Berrada cannot be trusted to appoint the next head coach, and if Carrick does indeed get sacked in the coming weeks, the duo should follow him out the door.
