With Benjamin Sesko sidelined by injury, the Red Devils are said to be targeting a prolific Bundesliga Forward to help solve their goalscoring woes and bolster a thinning frontline.
Despite the 2026 Summer window only very recently slamming shut, it appears Man United are already laying out their plans ahead of the next January window, with Michael Carrick's squad still in dire need of reinforcements after a dismal start to the season.
The summer midfield rebuild has certainly provided a boost, with Youri Tielemans and Adrey Santos both showing promising signs early in their United careers.
At the same time, Carlos Baleba still waits to make his debut for the Reds after joining from Brighton in August, already carrying an ankle injury, but was able to make that matchday squad for the first time as an unused substitute in the Reds' dire showing at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
However, following his absence from the travelling squad at the weekend, it looks as though Benjamin Sesko could be on the sidelines for another period, with the striker's previous shin injury said to be causing issues once again and leaving United light up front once more.
United Monitoring Guirassy
According to reports from TeamTalk, Borussia Dortmund and Guinea number nine Serhou Guirassy has emerged as a potential target for Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.
Guirassy has been a long-time target of United's from previous windows before ultimately moving on to other targets, but given the Reds' already existing lack of depth up front now coupled with a potentially injured Benjamin Sesko, the club may look at reigniting their interest in the Dortmund number nine.
Since joining from Stuttgart in the summer of 2024, Guirassy has undeniably been in the best form of his career, bagging 64 goals in 102 games for Dortmund and establishing himself as one of the most prolific centre-forwards in Europe.
Albeit he may not exactly fit the age profile that United's transfer team has prioritised in recent years, having turned 30 in March, Guirassy could still have much more to offer, especially from a player whose game is not built on pace.
Where Should United Invest In January
Although further additions to the forward line may soon be required, it is no secret that this current United squad still possesses a number of weak areas, that if not addressed, could soon lead to even further dismay for the Reds.
Talk of a new addition at left back was a hot topic over the summer, following Tyrell Malacia's exit, leaving Luke Shaw as the only natural senior left back at the club, at the age of 31.
Having suffered numerous amounts of injuries over the years, which have already begun to keep him out of games this season, it could soon prove to be vital that United move to strengthen in this area come January, even if that means delving into the loan market if the club's first option is unavailable, which will more than likely be the case in the January market.
