Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham champions Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson, envisioning a formidable Old Trafford midfield duo ready to conquer.

Should Man Utd shop in the EFL market?

Nottingham Forest have had a poor season, sitting 16th in the Premier League, and have struggled to cope with the demands of a relegation battle and their Europa League push, which has seen them progress to the semi-finals.

The standouts of Forest's season have undoubtedly been midfield duo Elliot Anderson and Morgan Gibbs-White, with the pair of them trying to force their way into England's World Cup squad in the summer, with Anderson, especially, being all but a guarantee to make the squad.

Gibbs-White is also in a rich vein of form, netting a hat-trick against Burnley over the weekend and scored a pivotal goal in Forest's quarter-final victory over Porto. The 26-year-old has scored 12 for Forest, top-scoring for the side by eight goals.

Anderson has not been short of interest, with big teams circling the player, preparing to make a bid, with Manchester City currently leading the race for the England international, with his availability awaiting Forest's survival in the Premier League.

Manchester United know that they need their midfield bolstering over the summer, with Casemiro retiring at the end of the season and Manuel Ugarte gaining interest from Juventus.

Sheringham sees Gibbs-White as a "top, top player".

Teddy Sheringham has discussed the possibility of United trying to sign one, if not both, of the Forest duo with the ex-United striker very much praising Gibbs-White.

"He gets forward, he's got great tenacity, wants to fight people, and the aggression and will-to-win comes out in him", he told TEAMtalk.

He is also very keen on the idea on United exploring the option to sign Newcastle academy graduate, Anderson. "I really like Anderson at Nottingham Forest", said Sheringham.

United need to build sufficient squad depth if they are to reach the Champions League, which is looking increasingly likely.

Sheringham asked, “Could they [United] get them both? Money talks, doesn’t it, and what a readymade duo that would be to add to the Manchester United squad."

Are the duo right for United?

Manchester United do now have a pull to sign players that they have lacked over the last two or three years, with the club looking on the up, returning to the Champions League.

The duo does seem to fit the way that United are playing under Carrick, with Anderson especially, who could be the ready-made Casemiro replacement.

However, it is difficult to see how Gibbs-White could get in ahead of Bruno Fernandes.

Ultimately, the style of the next Manchester United is key to whether this duo would be the right fit for United, and the price of the two could easily skyrocket if any of them flourish at the World Cup.
