United targets their dream left-wing signing, Morgan Rogers. Aston Villa's prized attacker ignites Old Trafford's summer transfer ambitions, despite a hefty price tag.

Midfield Has To Be The Priority This Summer

In the transfer market last summer, Manchester United saw a major overhaul when it came to their attacking options, as an entirely new forward line was brought in.

To address last season's terrible goal-scoring output by United's attackers, Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško were brought in, while Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Rasmus Højlund and Jadon Sancho all left the club, either on loan or permanently.

The new attacking trio have combined to score 25 goals between them, elevating United to the third-highest top scorers this season with 56, behind just Manchester City and Arsenal.

As the 2025/26 Premier League draws to a close, and Man Utd prepare for a likely Champions League campaign next season, the club are gearing themselves up for a majorly important summer transfer window, where the midfield has been identified as the main area of improvement.

Morgan Rogers is Man Utd's dream winger signing

After failing to address the lack of midfield depth last summer, the club have identified the position as the major area to transform in the summer, with it being reported that the club are looking to bring in at least two midfield signings.

Despite this, Michael Carrick has previously said that the club will also be looking at left-wing reinforcements in the summer, with that position also being identified as an area in need of depth.

As reported by Football Insider, Manchester United remain keen to make a move for Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers, after scoring 10 goals and seven assists in 45 appearances this summer.

Despite Aston Villa's £100 million valuation of the 23-year-old, United are reportedly unfazed by the price tag and could still make a move for him this summer. However, Villa's likely Champions League qualification could make a potential move much more difficult, and could push a move back another season.

Man Utd need to be wise with their summer budget

Despite the interest in adding depth to the left-wing position, as seen by the links to Rogers, as well as Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande.

While in an ideal world, United could make a move for one of these three stars, the club's priority simply has to remain on the midfield in the summer.

Casemiro has confirmed that he will leave the club in the summer, while a number of clubs have recently expressed interest in Manuel Ugarte. Saudi Arabian links with Bruno Fernandes also persist after the club's captain turned down a move there last summer.

Should those three players leave, it leaves just Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount as the club's only senior midfield options, making the need for at least two midfield options all the more apparent.

The club have been linked with the likes of Adam Wharton, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimarães in recent weeks, who will all demand sizeable fees considering their Premier League experience.
