According to the report, United are planning to hold talks with Shaw about the possibility of extending his stay at the Club beyond the end of this season.
This comes after United extended Harry Maguire's contract last season amid good form under Michael Carrick.
FootballInsider transfer guru Pete O'Rourke claims that United still see a role for the 31-year-old going forward at the club, and are keen to address his ending contract in the coming months.
It is said that United do not see losing Shaw for free at the end of the season as an option that they are willing to consider.
United must be ruthless with the old guard
Once it became apparent last summer that United were not planning to add any new senior defenders to their ranks, many pointed out that Carrick's favoured back four is the same back four that lined up for Erik ten Hag's opening fixture of the season in 2022.
