Andrey Santos commands the engine room at Stamford Bridge while Bruno Fernandes suffers a frustrating return to the lineup during a tense, disallowed goal-filled clash in West London.

Michael Carrick reinstated Bruno Fernandes to his starting XI as Manchester United travelled to West London to take on big-six rivals Chelsea in a crunch Premier League clash.

The opening 20 minutes were an even affair, with Chelsea having a goal ruled out for offside, while Fernandes missed a sitter at the other end after a wonderful cross from Bryan Mbeumo.

Matheus Cunha had the ball in the net for United after 33 minutes, but the goal was ruled offside because the Brazilian had been pushed offside as he received it. Amad missed a few great chances before half-time, but the tie remained goalless for the first half.

Early in the second half, a driving run from Morgan Rogers handed the home side a vital lead, and Lisandro Martínez was sent off after two yellow cards, giving away a penalty that Cole Palmer converted to put Chelsea up 2-0.

United player ratings vs Chelsea

Senne Lammens – 5/10

Lucky that Estevao was offside when Lammens parried the ball to the Brazilian. He got a strong hand to the penalty, but couldn't save it. Made some good saves in the second half, bu.

Leny Yoro – 7/10

Another game at right-back, and looked confident defending in the opening minutes.

Harry Maguire – 5/10

Way too relaxed for Chelsea's first goal, but made some good interceptions otherwise.

Lisandro Martínez – 2/10

Strong first half, but was absolutely unacceptable in the second. Two yellow cards in quick succession and gave away a penalty. Honestly, he should probably be sold in January.

Diogo Dalot – 5/10

A few loose touches but trying to get United forward when possible.

Carlos Baleba – 6.5/10

Heavily involved battling Caicedo, still warming to United slightly but showing a load of promise.

Andrey Santos – 7.5/10

Good overall games from Santos, looked confident on the ball as well as defending.

Bruno Fernandes – 5/10

Some world-class creative moments, combined with missing a sitter in the first half. Pretty silent in the second.

Amad – 4/10

Full of energy but lacked a killer final ball or shot. He got into some brilliant positions but couldn't finish. Came off with an injury.

Bryan Mbeumo – 6/10

Involved in all United's best attacks as he has been this season, needs to trust his teammates on final deliveries.

Matheus Cunha – 6/10

Working his socks off pressing the back line, really unlucky to be pushed offside for this goal. Came off after 65 minutes.

Substitutes

Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10

Mason Mount – 5/10

Ayden Heaven – 3/10

Joshua Zirkzee – 5/10
