Man Utd Predicted XI vs Atletico Madrid As Amad Returns

Manchester United are back on the road this weekend after returning to Carrington this week. As they did against Wrexham, Michael Carrick's side travelled back to Manchester after their 5-0 win against Rosenborg. 

Since the last match, Amad and Altay Bayindir have been spotted at the training ground – perhaps suggesting that they could be involved against Atletico Madrid, although they may be given another week to get up to speed. 

The Red Devils will still be without several first-team players, who remain on their post-World Cup holidays. However, a lot of those players could return before the next match against Paris Saint-Germain. 

Against Rosenborg, Carrick made two changes on the 45-minute mark, eight more after an hour and one more after 70 minutes. The substitutions on Saturday afternoon could follow a similar pattern, but the head coach is more likely to wait to make all the outfield changes at one time. 

Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw were the players withdrawn at halftime, and Carrick will want to see if they are ready for an hour of football. Shaw will be the primary focus after a report revealed that United are ready to sell Amass for just £6 million. 

Between the sticks, Tom Heaton should return to the starting lineup, with United looking likely to sell Radek Vitek this summer. Karl Darlow could also be involved for the first time since his transfer – perhaps after the round of changes. 

Bayindir would be another contender for minutes, but he has recently said he has "no idea" if he will remain at United. 

Carrick stuck with the same back-four against Rosenborg that started against Wrexham, and that is likely to be the case again. Leny Yoro at right-back, Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven in central defence, and Luke Shaw at left-back. 

Andrey Santos and Mason Mount should remain as the double-pivot partnership after their promising performances against Wrexham and Rosenborg. The new Brazilian has looked tidy, while Mount looks like a new version of himself in a deeper role. 

While he could give him another week to get up to match sharpness, Carrick may give Amad the nod from the start against Atletico Madrid. The Ivorian will not play as much as the rest of the starters, but he will want to be back with the group after a good World Cup. 

This will allow Bryan Mbeumo to move through the middle, with Joshua Zirkzee (who looks destined to leave) to drop to the bench. 

Patrick Dorgu will keep his place on the left flank, with Shea Lacey staying as the No.10.
