Manchester United's Matheus Cunha voiced his frustration in his post-match interview, discussing all the ways the game went wrong for his team and what his team did wrong to warrant such a poor performance.
It was yet another dismal day at the office for Michael Carrick's men, making it only five points gained in five games, placing Manchester United 12th in the league at the point of the first international break.
Two teams that lacked enthusiasm and hunger throughout the game, and despite 41 shots combined, the overall quality in the final third meant the teams could only manage a goal apiece.
In fairness to the attackers, however, the two man-of-the-match contenders were far and away the two keepers, who were defeated only by a freak own goal and a huge deflected effort.
Similarly to the disaster that was United's last game against Brighton in the Carabao Cup, United showed a severe lack of energy today, allowing Fulham to spend large periods of time maintaining possession, without much threat of being pressured into a mistake. Low intensity and low quality.
United did create some great chances that would have completely changed our perception of the performance: Bruno Fernandes and Cunha hitting the post, and Mbeumo and Cunha's edge-of-the-box efforts forcing brilliant saves from Leno, to name a few.
Cunha's reflection on the match
In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Matheus Cunha gave his thoughts on drab 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.
Cunha was asked about how his side started the game slowly. "It's hard to explain, I feel after the first half we always get a lot of chances and create, play well.
"In the beginning of the second half they put in more energy than us and we cannot accept this. We always play better after conceding goal, and it cannot be like this.
"I don't think today was about final decisions, we were a bit unlucky, I hit the post, and Bruno hit the post. We need to create more and hope the luck comes and we score. We need to improve in every single position."
After a summer transfer window that left many United fans frustrated and angered by the lack of ambition shown, it is very interesting for a player to say that the team needs to improve in every single position, especially this early on in a season.
Players are allowed to have bad games from time to time as they are human, but everyone, bar the goalkeeper, Senne Lammens, playing poorly is inexcusable.
How can Man United improve?
Manchester United are seemingly in a rut right now where it is very difficult to find a lot of positives around the team. Five points from five games in the league is bad enough, but having only one good performance in that, which came against newly promoted Ipswich Town, is horrendous.
Shocking against Hull on day one, uninspiring against Everton and Man City, where they threw the lead away twice at the Hill Dickinson and failed to score against a 10-man City, and now salvaging a point in dire fashion to joint-bottom Fulham.
However, there are still some positives for United to turn the season around with potentially key players returning from injury. Carlos Baleba was on the bench for the first time for United, and Matthijs de Ligt also travelled with the squad.
Carlos Baleba will add some much-needed energy to the team, along with some healthy competition for Mainoo and Tielemans. As for de Ligt, many fans believed that he was one of United's best players last season and one of the best centre-backs in the league before his injury; therefore, with United's defence yet to keep a clean sheet, it will be huge to have him back.
The negatives obviously out-weigh the positives right now at Manchester United, but the team now has a 20 day break until the next United game to recuperate, and with the first game back being against bottom of the league Spurs at home, United have a great chance to get back to winning ways next month.
