Manchester United continue their search for a left-back, as Joaquin Seys' price tag has been revealed.
Going into the final week of the transfer window, Manchester United will be under huge pressure to improve the squad.
Losing 2-0 to Hull City on the opening day of the Premier League season only justified the concerns from fans and pundits that, in its current form, this squad is not ready for the start of the season.
Tactical changes by Michael Carrick are certainly needed, but improvements to the personnel, especially at left-back and striker, are required for the club to attempt to be competitive in all competitions.
Jorge Salinas and Alejandro Balde have been linked to the club, but a surprise candidate has emerged as another left-back option.
Brugge value Seys at £30 million
Club Brugge's Joaquin Seys has emerged as a possible option to compete with Luke Shaw at left-back. The Belgian is fresh off a scintillating season in which he registered five goals and eight assists across all competitions.
Seys was rewarded for his successes with Brugge with a place in Belgium's squad for the 2026 World Cup.
According to Football Insider, Seys is not only an option but a top target for Manchester United, with the club looking to negotiate a fee with Brugge below their £30 million valuation.
Given the potential overall package and the fact that he has Champions League experience, the Belgian is a very enticing option.
More realistic option
Lewis Hall would be the ideal signing not just within the club but also with fans, but Newcastle United's stance is not going to change, which makes him unlikely.
Balde is the next big name on the list that has been linked, but there are not many sources giving concrete reports of United actively advancing in a deal. Given the frosty relationships between the two clubs over the Marcus Rashford saga, it is easy to see why a deal may be unlikely to be completed in six days.
Salinas offers the best value, with a £13.7 million release clause. However, the lack of experience at the top level makes him a very risky option, given that all the potential deals offer the ability to start at a high level.
That leaves Seys as the best option when you factor in the price, his 21 years of age, and his experience at Europe's top level.
The fact that the club have dipped into the Belgian market before with Senne Lammens, and the fact that his profile fits the type of player INEOS would prefer to bring in, means Seys fits the mould of the realistic option.
