Following a hard-fought draw with PSG, Amad identifies the elite quartet returning in Dublin to solve United’s finishing woes and inject world-class creativity into the attack.
Manchester United drew 1-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in their fourth pre-season game ahead of the 26/27 season, with Youri Tielemans making his debut in the second half.
PSG took the lead inside two minutes as Ibrahim Mbaye escaped from Ayden Heaven and made a darting run into the box. He was found by a low cross from Dro Fernandez for the winger to tap it in.
Bryan Mbeumo equalised for United in the 32nd minute. Amad stole the ball from Willian Pacho with a brilliant high press and laid the ball across goal for the Cameroonian to score his third goal of pre-season.
The Red Devils controlled the large majority of the game but were unable to convert any of the remaining chances.
Amad praises teamates
Amad had a largely disappointing season after a breakout 24/25 season. However, a brilliant World Cup, where he was unlucky not to get more minutes, has seemed to galvanise him.
The Ivorian has grown into the pre-season and has seemed to bring his good form with him. The way he pressed Pacho and stole the ball off the Ecuadorian is proving to be a trademark move from the 24-year-old.
Speaking after the game, Amad highlighted the key players yet to feature in pre-season who could add a new level of quality to the team.
He said to MUTV: "Now we NEED [Matheus] Cunha, [Marcus] Rashford, Licha [Lisandro Martinez] and Kobbie Mainoo who are going to join us in Dublin."
Left-sided players vital
The need for Rashford and Cunha to be on top form is going to be huge for this season going forward.
Dorgu showed last season that he can contribute on the left, but this pre-season has shown why being a winger is not his best position.
Against teams where there is not a lot of space to make runs and have counterattacks, this team needs a player like Cunha to make magic out of nothing in tight spaces. Furthermore, his ability to constantly drive at players and be positive in making chaos in the box.
In games where there is space behind, we all know how lethal Rashford can be, and he could play the role Dorgu sometimes plays with more quality.
Furthermore, both players arguably are better as strikers than Mbeumo, despite his goals so far in pre-season. The Cameroonian's best position is by far on the wing, where he can cut inside on his left foot.
