Ecuadorian talent Nilson Angulo chooses Sunderland over Manchester United, embarking on his Premier League journey for $20 million.

Nilson Angulo had been linked with a move to the Premier League for several seasons. The Ecuadorian came very close to joining Manchester United and Liverpool, but now he has finally chosen his new team. The Ecuadorian will indeed play in England this season.

Fabrizio Romano confirms that everything is ready between Nilson Angulo and Sunderland for the Ecuadorian to be their new player this season. The Tricolor forward joins the in-form team in England and is expected to become a starter as quickly as possible.

Although not one of the giants, it is one of England's traditional clubs and a team that promises to open the doors of the Premier League itself for the Ecuadorian forward. He will have these 6 months to adapt and arrive with rhythm for the 2026 World Cup.

Reports from Europe indicate the operation for the Ecuadorian player is $20 million. Therefore, the Tricolor footballer ends up leaving for less than expected, but Anderlecht did not want to "limit" his chances of reaching Europe to play in the Premier League.

With this move, the Ecuadorian contingent in the Premier League increases, as there are now 3 players: Moises Caicedo (Chelsea), Piero Hincapie (Arsenal), and Nilson Angulo (Sunderland). All are starters for the Ecuadorian national team under Beccacece.

So far this season, Nilson Angulo has played a total of 2,569 minutes for Anderlecht across 30 matches. He scored 7 goals and provided 8 assists. His market value, according to Transfermarkt, is $7 million. He will undergo medical checks in the coming days.

When they sold him to Anderlecht, Liga de Quito retained a percentage of the Ecuadorian player's transfer rights. This is between 25% and 30%, meaning the club now earns a significant sum from the Ecuadorian player with this transfer.

Reports from Belgium revealed that Nilson Angulo's transfer fee would be between $14 million and $16 million. Therefore, LDU would receive between $3.5 million and $4 million from this sale. The club ends up earning significant money from this transfer market to pay certain debts. Also, from the amount LDU will earn, Club Norteamerica is entitled to 25%.

Coming in with rhythm, the Ecuadorian player could make his debut as early as next weekend in the Premier League; coincidentally, the Ecuadorian player would make his debut against Arsenal, the club of his compatriot, Piero Hincapie. The match will be played this Saturday, 7 February.
