A highly-rated Premier League player is reportedly open to moving to Manchester United.

How do Manchester United replace Bruno Fernandes?

Manchester United are in the process of preparing for an incredibly important summer transfer window.

The deeper midfield positions will be United's priority, while the left-flank is also expected to be strengthened, with the club looking at both left-backs and left-wingers.

United have also started planning for life without Bruno Fernandes in the long-term. Fernandes is expected to stay at Old Trafford this summer, but the Portugal international reportedly wants reassurances over the club's ambitions before making a final decision.

Fernandes has a £57 million release clause in his current contract, which can only be activated by teams outside of England.

Various reports claim United are interested in Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers. The club have reportedly earmarked him as a potential Fernandes successor who could also play on the left wing, a position United are looking to strengthen this summer.

Cole Palmer has also been linked to a move to Old Trafford, with various reports claimimg he is unsettled at Chelsea. Palmer himself, however, has played down these rumours.

Palmer reportedly open to United move

Chelsea are currently at risk of not qualifying for any sort of European football next season, with the Londoners having lost six consecutive Premier League games.

It is also unknown who will be their manager next season after they parted ways with Liam Rosenior recently.

According to the Daily Mail,  there are sources outside of Chelsea who continue to claim Cole Palmer would privately consider a move to United.

The report claims, however, that Chelsea’s stance is that they would reject any approaches for Palmer, and he’s going nowhere this summer.

Is Palmer worth the money?

Various reports over recent months have claimed that Chelsea values Palmer in the region of £150 million, while reliable Chelsea reporter Matt Law has claimed it would take a bid of at least £120 million for Chelsea to go to the negotiating table.

While Palmer is undoubtedly an incredible player, United simply cannot justify spending that kind of money on him, this summer at least.

Fernandes will almost certainly stay, and the money must therefore be invested in the deeper midfield positions, the left-hand side and maybe even central defence if the budget stretches enough.

United have a strong interest in Rogers, who Villa would reportedly demand £100 million for. He could initially play on the left wing, before moving to the no.10 when Fernandes leaves.

Rogers, however, is not really the profile of a left-winger that United needs and is similar to Cunha in some ways. They both like to play between the lines in more central areas. United need a winger who can hold the width and make runs in behind.
