A massive windfall awaits at Old Trafford as the Argentine's potential exit from West London triggers a lucrative sell-on clause, further inflating Michael Carrick's summer budget.

Do Man Utd need a new STRIKER this summer?More Videos

With the 2026 summer transfer window now less than two weeks away from opening, Manchester United are set to approach the window in one of the strongest positions they have been in recent years, following securing Champions League football.

Now, with all the additional financial benefits of playing in the Champions League, as well as the already existing spending power the Reds possess, United appear to be preparing to spend big this summer.

On top of all of this, United could be in for even more financial strengthening, as a former player appears to be on the move once again.

Garnacho to Italy?

Since joining Chelsea last summer for a fee of £40 million, it is safe to say life in West London hasn't exactly gone to plan for the young Argentine, struggling to put together any string of consistent performances in a season that has seen the Blues finish 10th and lose at Wembley in the FA Cup final at the hands of Manchester City, a game Garnacho had won and scored only a couple seasons ago at United.

According to reports coming from The People Person, "The Garnacho dossier has also reached the desks of Juventus, Milan, and Roma in Serie A."

“All three teams are in need of reinforcements on the outside of their attack, and the temptation to try and relaunch the youngster after a difficult season is there, provided the right conditions arise."

However, with it also being alleged that Chelsea are looking to receive their full investment back from Garnacho, this my make a move to Italy a lot more challenging.

“If the Blues intend to recoup almost all of their investment, it’s unlikely Italy will make a move.”

How does a Garnacho move benefit United?

Despite no longer being an official United player, the club inserted a 10% sell-on clause into the deal for Garnacho, meaning United will still be able to profit from any potential move the Argentine may make.

Another example of a former player United currently has a sell-on clause with is Mason Greenwood, who has also been linked with a move away this summer, with United set to receive 50% of whatever potential fee Greenwood would command.

Sales for either of these players would further help bolster an already growing transfer budget for United, following the recent confirmation of Rasmus Hoijland's departure to Napoli, and would further help contribute to a window that has the potential to make or break the future of United over the coming years.
