Ex-Manchester United player, Jadon Sancho, could return to Borussia Dortmund for the third time in his career after yet another unsuccessful stint at Premier League club Aston Villa.
Jadon Sancho has had a very disappointing time in England since his return when he signed for Manchester United back in 2021.
During his time at Man United, Sancho failed to reach just 20 goals in all competitions, despite hitting said milestone in just one season at Dortmund.
Sancho also took a three-month hiatus mid-season, after his manager Erik ten Hag sent him to the Netherlands in the hopes of the Englishman using the time away to become the player he once was, both physically and mentally.
Things only got worse for Sancho in the Premier League after Man United, as he was left embarrassed by Chelsea after they accepted a £5m penalty to ensure he returned to his parent club.
Finally, this season at Aston Villa has statistically been the worst season of his career, accruing just one goal and three assists in 31 games, numbers that could scare the clubs battling for his signature this summer.
Quotes on Sancho's next transfer saga
As relayed by StrettNews, Florian Plettenberg has claimed that the 26-year-old has 'multiple offers' from clubs this summer, suggesting that his return to Dortmund is not quite set in stone yet.
Plettenberg has also stated that if these offers were to come to fruition, the player would have to accept a lower wage from any potential suitor.
Club legend and director, Lars Ricken, discussed Dortmund’s current stance on the situation. “We’re currently looking at a lot of players and analysing them closely. We check whether they can make us better. We’re doing that with Jadon as well.”
Evidently, neither party has its mind solely set on making the deal happen, despite it making a lot of sense.
However, Jadon Sancho's best moment over the past three years came at Dortmund in the Champions League against the current holders, PSG. Sancho was the man of the match, destroying the PSG defence and completing an impressive 13 successful dribbles, reaffirming to the world that his talent is still there.
How Man United have replaced Jadon Sancho
The £75 million player made it very easy for whoever was to take his place on the left wing for United to be deemed a success, but he also put a lot of pressure on the club to ensure that this next signing worked out.
After the strategy of buying players from abroad failed for the Red Devils, they decided to go more local and sign Matheus Cunha, who has been electric for United this season.
His numbers have not been as good as his 17-goal season last year, but his goals in crucial games, like the winner against Arsenal, and his sheer confidence to take risks and grab a game by the scruff of its neck have made many fans fall in love with him.
However, despite Cunha being a success, and the club deciding to move on from Sancho for some time now, they are still in the market for a left winger.
Players such as Iliman Ndiaye and Morgan Rogers have been on Man United's radar after great seasons both this year and last, making them potential options this summer to bolster their attack and depth of the squad.
