Marcus Rashford could make a move to another European giant this summer, with his future at Barcelona uncertain.
Marcus Rashford looks set to leave Manchester United permanently this summer.
The Carrington graduate enjoyed a successful season on loan at Barcelona, winning La Liga whilst registering 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.
Barcelona have the option to sign Rashford permanently for a fee in the region of £26 million, but the La Liga champions reportedly want to renegotiate the terms of the deal.
Various reports claim an agreement is already in place over personal terms between Rashford and Barcelona, but an agreement with United seems to be far away as things stand.
Even though Ruben Amorim, the head coach who exiled Rashford, left United in January, the chances of the Englishman returning to Old Trafford seem to be very low, with both United and the player's preference being to part ways this summer.
Bayern could make Rashford approach
Barcelona have completed a deal worth nearly £70 million to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, which will likely only further complicate a potential deal for Rashford.
However, Gordon's move to Barcelona could potentially pave the way for Rashford to move to Bayern Munich this summer.
The German club are in the market for a new left winger this summer and were also keen on Gordon before the former Everton player completed his move to the Camp Nou.
According to Manchester Evening News, there is a chance of Bayern switching its focus to Rashford to bolster Vincent Kompany’s squad.
While Barcelona have a £26 million buy option for Rashford, various reports claim that United believe they can sell Rashford for a higher fee elsewhere, should the Spanish giants choose not to activate the clause to sign him permanently.
Should United keep Rashford?
A new left winger is on United's agenda this summer, with United looking to revamp their left-hand side.
Morgan Rogers and Iliman Ndiaye are said to be on United's radar, while the Reds have also been linked to Rafael Leao, who could leave AC Milan this summer.
However, it is unclear whether United will have the budget to sign a left-winger, with a left-back said to be a bigger priority as things stand.
United need a left winger who can dominate 1v1 situations, hold the width and make runs in behind to stretch opposition defences. While Rashford is more dangerous closer to goal as opposed to out wide, he has developed the creative side of his game a lot since he last played for United.
His ability to stretch opposition defences is something United currently lack. Bryan Mbeumo is the only winger United has who can reliably make runs in behind.
Given the current market, any new winger will likely cost significantly more than United will be able to sell Rashford for. His wages are very high, but he can still offer United a lot, and by all accounts, he has a good relationship with Michael Carrick.
There may not be a way back for Rashford at United after all that's happened, but purely based on player quality, keeping him should be something United seriously consider.
