A persistent intermediary bridges the gap between Manchester and Istanbul, offering the out-of-favor winger a fresh start despite his reluctance to leave Europe’s most elite leagues.

After a successful loan spell in Spain, Manchester United academy graduate Marcus Rashford returned to the Reds during their pre-season campaign.

He made his first appearance for the club against Rúben Amorim's AC Milan side since the Portuguese manager exiled Rashford from the squad in February 2025.

Since then, he's had two loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona, and has been impressive in both, but his future remained uncertain when he returned from his loan after travelling to the World Cup with England.

Turkish giants Galatasaray have been vocal in their pursuit of the Englishman, and rumours are ramping up even more as a Galatasaray intermediary has approached the club with the promise of bringing Rashford to Turkey.

Gardi contacts Galatasaray management

Rashford completed a prolific season with Barcelona last season, in which he helped the Catalan side win their second La Liga title in two years.

There was a clause in the attacker's contract that allowed Barcelona to trigger a fee to make the loan move permanent, but Joan Laporta and his team wanted to renegotiate the £26 million fee and instead signed Anthony Gordon as Rashford's replacement.

Galatasaray have expressed their interest in signing Rashford since his permanent move to Barcelona collapsed. The Turkish League champions were serious contenders to sign Manuel Ugarte as well before he sustained a long-term knee injury at the World Cup.

Sports Witness has reported that Galatasaray-tied agent George Gardi 'has informed Galatasaray’s management he could bring the English player to the club.'

It's important to understand that Gardi does not represent Rashford, nor Galatasaray. The agent has acted as an intermediary for Galatasaray signings previously, and it seems as though he intends to do so again during the Rashford transfer saga.

There have been reports suggesting Rashford has ruled out playing in Turkey next season and that United are only open to offers from other top European clubs.

Rashford's United reintegration

Since leaving the club for the first time in his career in February 2025, Rashford has continued to develop into a top-class player, though it's apparent the absence of a permanent home is hindering his ability to perform at a consistently high level.

For example, Barcelona used Rashford as an alternative to Raphinha, who has become injury-prone over the last few seasons, but when the Englishman did feature, he proved his worth.

Michael Carrick has decided to reintegrate Rashford into the United setup, and he's joined the Reds during their preseason training camps and even featured against AC Milan late last week.

The winger's future remains very uncertain, but Rashford seems determined to advance his career despite returning to the club that oversaw his exit just over a year ago.

Rashford has been given a shirt number, which remains ambiguous as to whether it's temporary. He'll wear the number 14 shirt, despite wearing number 9 against AC Milan, a touching ode to former teammate Jesse Lingard.
