Harry Maguire confirms Manchester United are ready to invest heavily this summer, bringing in significant reinforcements to bolster the squad and push for success.

Man Utd's FIRST signing this summer will be... 👀

Manchester United's summer transfer window looks to be shaping up to be an explosive and brilliant summer for the Red Devils.

While the question of who takes over as United head coach on a permanent basis remains a debate, with current interim Michael Carrick the favourite to remain at Old Trafford, their summer plans are already underway.

Across the last week or so, it has been reported that Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali has become the club's top choice to fill the hole left by the departing Casemiro, while a new left-back is also on the cards.

It has also been claimed that United are looking to sign two, possibly even three, midfielders, while bringing in another left-winger or striker may be explored to bolster the squad's current crop.

Maguire reveals United's summer plans

Recently, centre-back Harry Maguire has been talking with the press about his return to the England set-up, as well as his current situation at United as he continues to discuss new contract terms.

Maguire also let slip that, amid his conversations with United, they had informed him that they planned to go big in the summer as they continue their revamp.

“I'm sure it will do, and I'm sure it's going to be a thorough process, and it's going to be a big summer. We know that for Manchester United. We need bodies in, bodies to help the squad. We know that. We need improvement in the squad. We need more bodies. It's going to be a big recruitment in the management department, and I'm sure that the hierarchy will get it right.”

This was then backed up by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who weighed in to confirm that Maguire was talking from a position of genuine knowledge, rather than speculation.

Premier League-proven to be the route again

Last summer, United went down the route of making sure they secured at least a few players who had experience playing in the Premier League, and ended up securing Bryan Mbuemo and Matheus Cunha.

With the 2026 summer transfer window fast approaching, United's main targets are being explained in the media, and it's all Premier League-experienced players in key positions once again.

The club will go heavy on midfielders, and the main reported players they are looking at are Newcastle's Tonali, Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson, and Crystal Palace gem Adam Wharton.

Even at left-back, you have Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly, Newcastle's Lewis Hall, and a few others. United want to go big on shopping within England again this summer, and it's sure to be a huge few months at Old Trafford.
