Despite an underwhelming start to the campaign, Manchester United saved their season with a dramatic increase in form in the second half. Michael Carrick's influence and imposition of simple football aided the squad to a harmonious and relieved end to the year.

The Reds finished third, with Champions League football secured for next year's campaign. 2025 Summer signings like Benjamin Šeško, Bryan Mbeumo, and Matehus Cunha helped United improve on a lacklustre attack, scoring 69 goals in the Premier League this season, and securing a 3-0 away at Brighton on Sunday.

That said, Christopher Vivell and the rest of the recruitment team have an imperative summer transfer window to bolster squad depth and replace departing players like Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte, so that the Reds can compete both in the Champions League and domestically again.

As a winger is expected to sign this summer, one man whom the club has been monitoring for some time now has just provided an update on his future, after his club, West Ham, failed to avoid the drop on the final day of the season.

Bowen hints at destination next season

As previously stated, United's attack has vastly improved this season. The Reds finished on 69 goals, the highest tally since Ole Gunnar Solskjær's title-challenging year in 2020/21.

Despite attack performoing better, the consensus is that a new winger is to provide competition for players who have slightly faded at some points in the season, such as Amad Diallo and Patrick Dorgu, who missed just over three months of football with a hamstring injury.

According to The Peoples Person, Jarrod Bowen is a name touted as a potential summer signing. The Hammer's winger has been the shining light in an underperforming and subsequently relegated West Ham side.

With eleven goals and twelve assists in 42 games this season, Bowen recorded one of his best years at the club and has been on the radar of many Premier League clubs. As the Irons failed to stay up, clubs are prying to see if they can secure Bowen's signing at a lower cost.

However, Bowen is keeping his cards close to his chest; ties around the club, fans, and family members would be devastated to see one of their own leave for an English rival; “It’s disrespectful to everyone to start talking about that.” Bowen answered when questioned about his next destination.

Bowen's departure, though expected, may not come to fruition. The Englishman definitely can compete at a higher level than West Ham, but at 29, and with a substantial price tag, clubs may look elsewhere for a younger, more long-term option.

Bowen swayed to stay at West Ham

As previously mentioned, Bowen has become a cult hero at West Ham since signing for the club in 2020, guiding the club to its highest league finish since 1985 and, crucially, scoring a late winner in the 2023 Conference League final to win the club's only European trophy.

It's clear the Englishman bleeds West Ham, and he's proved this in his loyalty during these tough times; “I want this club to be in the Premier League. It’s a club that means so much to me and has given me so much, so my vision is to get this club back in the Premier League.”

It looks increasingly likely that Bowen will remain a West Ham player for next season, as he looks optimistic in bringing the club back to Premier League glory, which means United must look elsewhere for a new winger.

Anthony Gordon and Yan Diomande are two players reportedly on the market this summer. Still, both RB Leipzig and Newcastle want fees in the region of £100 million, which would be the majority of the Reds' summer budget.

Rafael Leão is a player also linked with the club recently, his exit from AC Milan looks imminent as they've failed to secure Champions League football for next year. A swap deal with fringe player Joshua Zirkzee could potentially happend, as Leão becomes a viable option.
