After two loan moves to both Aston Villa and Barcelona, Manchester United are now set on a permanent transfer for the man from Wythenshawe.

With United in the market for a new left-winger to compete with Matheus Cunha, some United fans are eager to bring him back to the club; however, many fans believe it would be a big mistake, and the correct decision is to cash in on him now.

Marcus Rashford last played for United way back in December 2024, before moving to Aston Villa in the January transfer window.

Rashford enjoyed his first ever league title win over in Spain, and contributed eight goals and seven assists in just 18 starts in the league, making it hard to believe that they were not interested in keeping him for a fee as small as £30 million.

According to ESPN, many sources have all said the same, that Manchester United are not interested in negotiating a new loan agreement with Barcelona. 

Barcelona's antics in the transfer window so far continue to amaze and bewilder. They claim to be struggling financially and cannot afford to sign Rashford permanently, yet they offered around £85 million to Atletico for Julian Alvarez.

Furthermore, they bought Anthony Gordon for more than double the price, despite Gordon only scoring six league goals and only three from open play. A huge risk for a huge price.

This does suggest that they may not be out of the race, as they clearly have more money available than they care to admit, as they are still in pursuit of Alvarez.

Also, Barcelona have company from Bayern Munich who continue to show interest in the forward.

Marcus Rashford has quite a few clubs interested in him, and if his form in the World Cup continues after his goal against Croatia, a deal will be much easier to come by.

A positive for United is that they are not reliant at all on Marcus Rashford's return this summer, as they already have an array of options lined up.

One of the more recent players to be linked is West Ham's Crysencio Summerville. The Dutchman scored a beautiful goal on his World Cup debut, sparking a lot of attention and interest around him.

Despite facing relegation and only netting seven times last season, his ability on the ball caught the eyes of many in the league, and for around £50 million, United will struggle to find a better player for such a price.

Also, Iliman Ndiaye continues to be a recurring name surrounding the Red Devils, while Matias Fernandez-Pardo enters the conversation after his second season in France with Lille.

In this new era at Manchester United, a huge importance is placed on lowering the wage bill at the club; therefore, getting Rashford off the books is a need. However, this remains a huge factor in why so many clubs are reluctant to sign him.

The criteria for Rashford this summer is very simple, lower your wage demands and a transfer will come.
