Should Manchester United sign a left-winger this summer?More Videos

The wide areas, especially in an attacking front, are a very intriguing proposition for Manchester United this season, with it not feeling a need to bring one in, but more of a want by the Old Trafford faithful.

The two starting wingers United have mainly adopted this season, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbuemo, have both had fine debut seasons, especially Cunha, who has really shone, with Mbuemo slowing down as the season has gone on.

Depth has been a slight concern; however, the two players behind Cunha and Mbuemo are Patrick Dorgu on the left and Amad on the right. Both have had their own separate issues this year.

Dorgu has the difficulty of trying to balance having to play in two positions, left back and left wing, and also has struggled with fitness, missing most of the second half of the season with a hamstring injury, with his return coming in the last game of the season away at Brighton, where he managed to score, helping Bruno Fernandes to his record-breaking 21st assist.

Amad, on the other hand, has been fit for most of the season, but his main problem since he was introduced into the first squad after loans with Rangers and Sunderland is his consistency. Two goals and three assists simply aren't enough for a side trying to cement themselves as a top-four club.

And with interest from sides like Sunderland starting to possibly ramp up, it will be interesting if United look to move him on.

United, Brentford and Newcastle look at Bazoumana Touré

As per SportWitness, United want to take a punt on Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure, but will face stiff competition from Premier League outfits Brentford and Newcastle, who may be able to offer the playing time United can't.

Toure won't come cheap, as Hoffenheim are demanding £40m for his services. The Ivorian will be going to the World Cup as one of the youngest players in the Ivory Coast squad, playing alongside Amad, who may be trying to sway him to Old Trafford.

Toure has only just completed his first full season in Germany, and in major European football, however, it has been an overwhelming success, with him scoring five and assisting nine in the Bundesliga. He has been hyped for his blistering pace and for being one of the best crossers in the league, statistically.

Do United need to prioritise a winger?

There are other areas of the pitch that United do need to invest their money in, with a winger probably falling third in that category, behind two/three central midfielders and a left back.

It doesn't feel very likely that United will have the leftover cash of £40m to spend on a winger who has only been able to prove himself for one season.

There is still a possibility that United look to wingers; however, Toure feels more likely that he is on his way to Brentford or Newcastle rather than a Champions League side, with United more likely to keep their options as they are for one more season
