Should Man Utd be dipping into the EFL market?

Manchester United are amidst a rebuild this summer transfer window, and have listed a few positions as a priority, as the club pushes on for stability in domestic competitions and in Europe.

A couple of new midfielders are a necessity, with Casemiro confirming his exit in January and Manuel Ugarte also planning his departure after not being utilized enough under Michael Carrick.

A new fullback is also desired. Patrick Dorgu has missed a chunk of the season due to an injury suffered in the Arsenal game at the end of January, Luke Shaw has surpassed 30 years of age now and will need a replacement soon, and Diogo Dalot is prone to mistakes despite playing a crucial role this season.

A new winger may not be a priority for the Reds, but reports suggest that if the club can secure one of England's generational talents, then the recruitment team will pounce on the opportunity.

Man Utd plan move for Monga

Ten years ago, Leicester City shocked the world by winning the Premier League with 5000-1 odds. Now, the Foxes have been relegated to League 1 after a disastrous Championship campaign and abhorrent board management.

Leicester are currently in a rut when it comes to finances, having been deducted six points last year for breaching FFP regulations, but one asset they can capitalise on to aid their troubles is their respected academy.

Jeremy Monga, a 16-year-old winger who has been a shining light on Leicester's calamitous season, has been linked with a move away from the club after breaking into the first team last season.

Monga has made 37 appearances for the Foxes since his debut in the Premier League in 2025, and has slowly built a reputation as one of England's next top talents.

TeamTalk have reported that Christopher Vivell's recruitment team is planning a 'formal approach' for the Leicester winger, after the Foxes have failed to tie the 16-year-old down with a professional contract.

Leicester are reportedly ready to offer Monga a future in the first team, something the Reds cannot justify at the moment, given the current attacking figures in the squad, like Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, who have locked down their positions.

Should United target a more senior winger?

Despite Monga's obvious bright future, there is no guarantee that whatever the club could spend on the winger could pay immediate dividends; the 16-year-old would likely need to be nursed into Premier League football, which may deter the board from signing him.

Yan Diomande is a fanstatic alterantive, having already played first-team football for Leganes and RB Leipzig, the Ivorian was quickly labelled a wonderkid due to his impressive debut season for Leipzig.

With extraordinary dribbling and physical attributes, the winger could be the perfect signing to provide competition for Amad Diallo, who has failed to impress as of late. But with a reported £100 million price tag, the board may decide to look elsewhere.

Morgan Rogers and Anthony Gordon have been named as potential suitors for the left wing, with both having stakes in Premier League football, and both being their club's best attacking outlet this season.

Reports suggest the board is targeting players with Premier League experience, which Monga lacks. Despite the 16-year-old having an extremely high potential, an alternative is likely to be considered instead.
